摘要： Systems and methods for generating and decoding authenticatable graphical bar codes are described. In one aspect, a corroborative signed message is generated from information to be encoded, and a base image is modulated with a graphical encoding of the signed message to produce a marked image. In another aspect, a signed message is extracted from a marked image based upon a comparison of the marked image and a base image. The extracted signed message is decoded to produce a decoded message. Information encoded in the marked image is extracted from the decoded message and authenticated.

摘要： A barcode system for generating and decoding a barcode with visual significance. The barcode system of the present invention includes an encoding module for receiving a message and a logo and generating a visually significant barcode based on these inputs. A decoding module is also provided for receiving an acquired version of a visually significant barcode that may have been degraded in a typical document handling channel (e.g., through the printing, scanning, or copying process) and for recovering the message specified by the visually significant barcode.

摘要： A barcode with enhanced visual quality may be used with an item such as a document. The barcode includes a background field having an embedded graphic. The background caries data related to the item. The embedded graphic may obscure some background data. A bar coding apparatus, system and a corresponding method involve two basic functions: encoding and decoding. The encoding function uses an encoding algorithm to generate the barcode. The graphic is then embedded onto the barcode and the thus-generated enhanced visually significant barcode is placed on the item. Decoding involves machine-reading the barcode using a decoding algorithm. The decoding algorithm can operate with or without an original bit map that was used to generate the graphic. The graphic may be enhanced in a manner that may make at least a portion of the encoded information within the graphic readable by a human.

An exemplary method includes dividing the information file into a first file and a second file, wherein the second file includes content from the information file to preclude reconstruction of the information file using only the first file, and encrypting the second file. Additionally, the method provides for transmitting the first file and the encrypted second file from a first device to a second device.
