An apparatus and a method permitting detection of misprinted/omitted character when performing a special character input mode An output manager outputs a character input screen including a virtual keyboard region and a character input field region when entering a character input mode, and outputs an auxiliary character input field showing information of currently input data on the virtual keyboard region. A display unit outputs the auxiliary character input field, the character input field, and the virtual keyboard. When an input of the virtual keyboard is detected, the output manager outputs information of data corresponding to an input position on the character input field and the auxiliary character input field. The character input mode preferably includes a mode for inputting at least one of text data, symbol data, and emoticon data.

The optical source module has a substrate, an optical source mounted on the substrate, an optical fiber for receiving lights emitted by the optical source, an optical fiber ferrule for supporting the optical fiber, and a saddle mounted on the substrate for holding the optical fiber ferrule. The saddle comprises a pair of base layers distanced apart from each other so that the optical fiber ferrule can be inserted thereto; a sub-rib member extending upwardly from internal ends of the respective base layer; a center-rib member extending in a vertical upward direction from the center of the respective sub-rib member; an arm member displaced along the longitudinal direction of the optical fiber ferrule, and having a pair of welded sections for coupling the optical fiber ferrule thereto; a tapered reinforcing member extending from the respective arm member; and, a loop member having a bent shape coupled to both ends of the reinforcing sections.

A second waveguide extends from the optical fiber to the high reflection layer. With a first mode coupling region formed by ends of the first and second waveguides near the high reflection layer, the second waveguide transmits the transmission optical signal mode-coupled from the first waveguide to the optical fiber and receives the reception optical signal from the optical fiber. A third waveguide extends from the optical detector to near an end of the optical fiber. With a second mode coupling region formed by an end of the third waveguide and the other end of the second waveguide, the third waveguide transmits the reception optical signal mode-coupled from the second waveguide to the optical detector.
