摘要: During normal operation of diesel engines the EGR valve poppet often becomes stuck to the valve seat in the closed position, due to excessive build up of exhaust gas debris, which renders the valve inoperable. This usually occurs after the engine is shut down and the valve is seated. Features, which locate the valve poppet in an unseated position when not in use, are implemented into the EGR valve design to prevent this sticking from occurring, thereby increasing product robustness and prolonging product life.

摘要: A mounting structure for a wire harness for use in a movable structure, such as a door of a passenger vehicle, is disclosed. The mounting structure may include a mounting frame and a bracket for use in a recess of the movable structure. The mounting structure may be installed on a movable structure such that water may contact the mounting frame. The mounting frame may include water management features that generally direct water away from a dry region. Such water management features may include one or more cut-aways formed in an outer periphery of the mounting frame, and may also include one or more dams and/or sub-dams. The cut-aways, dams, and sub-dams may be used to re-direct water away from the dry region.

摘要: Mechanical systems having anti-stick mediums applied thereto are provided. In one aspect, exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve systems having anti-stick mediums applied thereto are also provided. The anti-stick medium can be applied to any contacting surface, such as but not limited to the valve surface and/or the valve seat surface. The anti-stick medium is intended to prevent the valve surface and the valve seat surface sticking or bonding together, especially with respect to the operation of cooled or cold side EGR systems. If any materials should stick to the anti-stick medium, a portion of the anti-stick medium will break away from the surface, allowing the surface and/or component to function normally. The anti-stick medium can include, without limitation, boron nitride coatings, boron nitride aerosols, boron nitride greases, thin dense chrome platings, perfluoroalkoxy, and combinations thereof.

摘要: A method of using algorithmic control to operate and protect an actuator. The first control strategy uses a soft stop control method where an actuator is driven toward a stop. The actuator control system senses when the actuator is nearing the stop. A control strategy is implemented where the actuator movement is dampened prior to reaching the stop so that the actuator does not strike the stop abruptly. Another control strategy of the present invention involves using the actuator control system to monitor and calculate the integral value of the electrical current flowing though the actuator to determine if the actuator is operating beyond on its suggested operating range. This strategy will help to maximize actuator operation while preventing damage due to overheating.

摘要: An exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) arrangement having an intake manifold with a valve base assembly integrated with the engine's intake manifold. The valve base assembly has a valve seat positioned in the path of fluid flow through the valve base. A valve member is also contained in the valve base and is operably disposed in relation to the valve seat. An actuator is connectable with the valve base and with the valve member to open and close the valve seat in response to actuation of the actuator. The actuator can disconnect from the valve base and valve member.

摘要: An electrical connector assembly has a male connector which houses and locks to a series of male bladed terminals and a female connector housing and locking to a series of female terminals. A blade of each male terminal extends into a chamber defined by a shroud of the male connector. Prior to mating of the electrical connector assembly, a self-aligning blade stabilizer is snap fitted into a pre-staged position with the male connector via a two-stage fastening feature so that the distal ends of the blades are disposed within respective apertures of the stabilizer and aligned to their respective female terminals. With the blade stabilizer held in a pre-staged position, the distal ends of the blades are protected from being inadvertently knocked and bent which would cause misalignment. Furthermore, the stabilizer prevents entry of debris into the chamber of the male connector which would hinder or prevent full mating of the electrical connector. During mating of the electrical connector assembly, the stabilizer is pushed out of the pre-staged position and into a staged position as the blades travel through the apertures and into the female terminals of the female connector.
