Abstract: A DC motor apparatus includes a motor housing assembly which includes an outer liquid-tight coolant chamber and an inner, armature-reception chamber portion. Pairs of permanent magnet stator magnet modules are housed within the liquid-tight coolant chamber, and shunt members are housed within the liquid-tight coolant chamber between the stator magnet modules. An armature is centrally located in the inner, armature-reception chamber portion. The armature includes at least one pair of armature pole portions which are wound with same-directional windings. A commutator is connected to the armature, and the commutator includes commutator contacts. An adjustable brush advance/retard mechanism includes roller brushes for contacting the commutator contacts. A liquid cooling system includes a coolant pump and a coolant fluid radiator for circulating liquid coolant through the liquid-tight coolant chamber for cooling the stator magnet modules and the shunt members.

Abstract: Generally, a magnetically enhanced oil filter apparatus includes a cartridge housing which includes an oil input channel and an outlet channel. The cartridge housing defines a cartridge interior space. A magnet unit is affixed to an outside portion of the cartridge housing, whereby a magnetic field from the magnet unit extends into the cartridge interior space providing an interior magnetic field zone. A hollow annular (e.g. cylindrical) filter element is employed. Filter positioning means are provided for supporting and positioning the hollow cylindrical filter element. Oil flow control means are positioned so that portions thereof enter the interior magnetic field zone, for directing oil flow to and from the hollow cylindrical filter element. In this respect, the oil flow control means are positioned with respect to the hollow cylindrical filter element and the interior magnetic field zone to divide the interior magnetic field zone into a pre-filtration magnetic treatment zone and a post-filtration magnetic treatment zone.

Abstract: An oil pan containing a magnetic filter apparatus includes an oil pan member which includes a magnet assembly reception channel. A magnetic filter assembly is received in the magnet assembly reception channel, and attachment means are provided for attaching the magnetic filter assembly to the oil pan member. An oil flow director assembly is connected to an oil pump intake tube of an oil pump for directing oil flow to a high magnetic flux region of the magnetic filter assembly. The magnetic filter assembly separates ferro-magnetic particles from oil in the oil pan member and traps the separated particles on the magnetic filter assembly. The magnetic filter assembly includes a magnet support member which is attachable to the attachment means. A magnet unit is supported by the magnet support member. The magnet unit provides a high magnetic flux region to circulating oil in the vicinity of an oil pump intake tube for trapping metal particles on the magnetic filter assembly. The magnetic filter assembly includes handle portions which can be grasped for turning the magnetic filter assembly. The magnet support member includes a support connector portion for connecting to the attachment means. A support riser portion is connected to the support connector portion, and a magnet holding member is connected to the support riser portion. The support connector portion includes external threads for engaging complimentary internal threads of the attachment means.

Abstract: A combined oil filter and magnet apparatus of the invention generally is comprised of an oil filter and a removable and reusable magnet unit attached to the oil filter. The removable and reusable magnet unit attracts and retains ferro-magnetic particles present in the oil flowing inside the oil filter, thereby separating those particles from the flowing oil. Inside the oil filter, an oil flow director is provided to direct oil flow to the vicinity of the removable and reusable magnet unit.
