摘要: In order to test a host's support for peripherals that use a given type of peripheral interface, an interface device communicates with peripheral interface ports of the host. The interface device also communicates with an emulation computer over a local area network. The emulation computer is programmed to emulate one or more peripheral devices by receiving and responding to messages. The interface device passes messages between the host and the emulation computer, using a peripheral interface communications protocol for communications with the host and using a network communications protocol for communications with the emulation computer.

摘要: A merchandising display and dispensing system for displaying and dispensing articles, including cylindrical shaped articles or rolls of disk-shaped articles. In particular, the invention relates to a modular display and dispensing system having a plurality of modules fitted with one another. Each module comprises a left side panel and a right side panel which are fitted together and form a serpentine chute which feeds articles by gravity to an access tray where an article can be removed by hand, thus permitting another article to enter the tray. The front of the module receives a front cover for covering the chute and provides a surface for indicia of contents inside the module. The front cover is preferably hinged at the bottom to permit reloading product in the top of the chute. Various connecting structures can be formed on the side panels and adapted to join the module to a front cover, to another adjacent module, to a module base, and/or to a module header to form a modular display and dispensing system.

摘要: In a network management application, a system applies a management action to a resource by receiving a selection of a resource representation in a network environment that represents a resource to which a management action is to be applied. The system applies a series of resource traversal functions to a repository containing objects representative of network resources in the network environment. The traversal functions identify a set of action affected resources in the network environment existing along a set of relationship paths extending to at least one storage device that have a current allocation relationship to the selected resource. The system presents a representation of the set of allocated resources in the network environment to a user of the management application. The representation of action-affected resources informs the user of resources within the storage area network that are currently in an functional relationship with the selected resource to which a management action is to be applied and that may be affected if the management action is to be applied to the selected resource.

摘要: A gaseous constituent such as SO.sub.2, HCl, or HF is removed from a gas stream in a granular bed filter containing granules coated with a sorbent material which is reactive with the gaseous constituent. Granules carrying reacted sorbent material are removed from the granular bed filter, cleaned of reacted sorbent material and coated with further sorbent material for reuse in the granular bed filter. Electrification of the filter bed permits simultaneous, highly efficient removal of particulates entrained in the gas stream.

摘要: A hang-timer device is disclosed that is capable of issuing recording instructions to a recording device, such as a digital camera. The hang-timer can measure a static acceleration profile of a wearer of the hang-timer, and based on this static acceleration profile it can issue recording instructions to a recording device. For example, if the static acceleration profile changes from about 1 g to about 0 g, the hang-timer can issue instructions for the recording device to record; additionally, if the profile changes from about 0 g to about 1 g, it can issue instructions to stop recording. Moreover, the hang-timer can issue instructions for the recording device to record some period of time before a hang-time event and some period of time after a hang-time event. Various other such variations on the general notion described above are also disclosed.

摘要: A method and system for decoding and storing encoded control data delivered via the horizontal overscan area of a video signal. An interactive device such as a toy performs behavior defined by control data that can be encoded into a video signal. The toy is equipped with a decoder for extracting data from the horizontal overscan portion of the video signal, and a non-volatile memory that permits the control data to be stored for use after the video signal is no longer being received. The control data are delivered as a series of words that include genus codes and sequence codes. Genus codes identify the specific toy to which the word is directed, as more than one toy may receive the video signal. Error grading is used to minimize the effect of such signal deterioration, so the toy will replace previously received words if newer words are of higher quality.

摘要: A unitary blank of injection molded plastic includes a back panel, first side panels hingedly connected to the back panel, a second side panel hingedly connected to the back panel, front panels hingedly connected to the second side panel, a cover panel hingedly connected to the front panels, and shelves hingedly connected to respective first side panels. To assemble the display, the panels are folded so that the back panel, the side panels, and the front panels surround an interior space, and the cover panel overlaps the first side panels. Latches are provided to retain the cover panel on the first side panels. Each shelf is folded to extend into the interior space, where it is supported by ledges on the second side panel and held in place by tabs which snap into slots. The shelves have tongues which extend forward of the front panels.

摘要: A combined shipping and display device formed by folding from a single blank of sheet material such as corrugated cardboard. The device includes a display part, and a removable cover which is hingedly connected to the display part at a score or fold line. Preferably, the cover has two lines of perforation which are parallel and adjacent to the fold line to define a connection strip between the display part and the cover. A pull tab is attached to each end of the connection strip to separate the cover from the display part. When such a merchandising display is used as a shipping carton, the cover closes to enclose the merchandise contained in the display part as well as a portion of the display part. Removing the cover from the display part will open the shipping carton and display the merchandise on the display part.

摘要: Users can browse a repository of search results obtained from a search engine by mounting a virtual file system, for example, on a network server over a network. The virtual file system contains a hierarchy of categories and is associated with a document repository. Consequently, although documents could be located anywhere, documents indexed by the virtual file system are accessed by users in the original document locations. Accordingly, all changes made by a user are made to the original document rather than to a copy of the document. Therefore, there is no need to upload a copy of the document to the original file location. The search engine can be associated with the virtual file system so that the search engine recognizes the changed document immediately.
