    摘要： A method and apparatus for modification of a speech signal indicative of a stream of speech data having a plurality of syllables. The method comprises the steps of mapping the stream of speech data from the speech signal into a stream of tone data according to a linguistic rule regarding the syllables for providing a tone signal indicative of the stream of tone data; forming a string of musical notes responsive to the tone signal for providing a carrier signal indicative of the string of musical notes; modulating the carrier signal with the speech signal for providing a modified signal; and providing an audible signal representative of the speech signal, musically modified according to the linguistic rule. The linguistic rule includes an assignment of a tone to a syllable of the speech data based on a vowel of the syllable, a consonant of the syllable, the intonation of the syllable for a monosyllabic language. The musically modified speech signal can be used to indicate an incoming telephone call, a message left on a telephone, a scheduled event, or the like.

    摘要： This invention describes a mobile phone with a means of measuring a background sound level of an environment. When a user either initiates or receives a phone call, sound levels before and during the call are compared. Once it is decided that the voice is too loud based on a predetermined criteria, the phone gives the user a feedback indicating that the voice is too loud and potentially a disruption to other people. Furthermore, the present invention provides a feedback for a voice adjustment by utilizing a sidetone adaptive signal that filters the user own speech directly to an earpiece.

The external device includes a short-range transceiver, a memory, and an output interface. The mobile device includes two network transceivers, typically a cellular transceiver and a short-range transceiver, typically Bluetooth. In operation, the user prepares and stores a list of external devices with assigned IDs. The user further stores a list of phone numbers (phone book information) of contacts on the cellular network associated with the external devices for delivery of messages to the selected external device(s). The mobile device scans the network, and detects messages from associated contact source(s). The messages are stored by the ID. When the mobile device is within the coverage area of the external device, the mobile device transmits the message(s). The external device interprets the message for output to the intended recipient.
