In the context of a method performed by a slave device to be discovered, an advertisement may be generated including an indication of a capability to perform a predefined type of connection setup for initiating wireless communications. The method also causes the advertisement to be transmitted and receives a response to the advertisement from another device including one or more parameters relating to the predefined type of connection setup. The method also supports the connection setup with the another device in accordance with the one or more parameters. Corresponding apparatus and computer program products as employed by both master and slave devices are also provided.

A wireless communications device that coordinates communications in a wireless communications network (the coordinator) transmits one or more first handover commands to one or more remote devices upon the occurrence of a triggering event. Based on responses to these first commands, the coordinator selects a remote device for coordinating future communications in the wireless communications network.

First capability data associated with a first type of power source and a first state of the power source of a first device is received at a second device. Second capability data is transmitted to the first device from the second device. The second capability data is associated with a second type of power source and a second state of the power source of the second device. The first capability data is compared with the second capability data at the second device. If the comparison indicates the first capability data is less desirable than the second capability data, the second capability data is transmitted again to the first device from the second device. If the comparison indicates the first capability data is more desirable than the second capability data, the first capability data is received again from the first device at the second device.

The wireless terminal also includes a second transceiver operating in the WLAN network in substantially the same communications band and a second communications protocol transmitting second data units. The wireless terminal further includes a controller coupled to the first and second transceivers, assigning a higher transmission priority to the second data units than to the first data units when transmission of the second data units overlaps a first occurring transmission of the first data units, to abort transmission of the first occurring data unit. The controller assigns a higher transmission priority to the aborted first data unit than to the second data units when transmission of the second data units overlaps the retransmission of the aborted first data unit, to transmit the aborted first data unit.
