Abstract:
The present invention relates to an amine grafted chitosan nanofiber having the formula (I) wherein R1 to R5 are independently selected from linear or branched C1-C20 alkandiyl C6-C24 arenediyl; k and m are independently selected from 1 to 10, wherein, in case that k and/or m are >1, each R4 and R5 group can be independently selected; and l and n are independently selected from 50-3000, a method for the preparation thereof and its use in heavy metal adsorption.
Abstract:
Hydrogel nanobeads include an ionically crosslinked sulfated polysaccharide biopolymer such as a carrageenan. In an embodiment, the hydrogel nanobeads comprise kappa carrageenan (κCg) and a metal ion crosslinking agent. In an embodiment, the metal ion crosslinking agent includes a metal ion selected from the group consisting of Zn2+, Fe2+, Fe3+, and Ti3+. The hydrogel nanobeads can be used for removal of pollutants in wastewater.
