Abstract: A PPG imaging system and method is provided for processing 3D images to derive remote PPG signals. A surface mesh of a region of interest is created from each of a set of the 3D images. The surface meshes are matched to each other using mesh transformations thereby providing motion compensation. A remote PPG signal is then obtained from each of a set of mesh locations of the matched surface meshes, thereby to derive a set of PPG signals. A perfusion map and/or a PPG delay map may be obtained from the set of PPG signals.

Abstract: A system and method for PPG analysis processes images to determine PPG signals from different image regions of the images and determine relative delays between the PPG signals for the different image regions. The time alignment between the PPG signals is improved so that a more accurate global PPG signal is obtained for the overall region of interest. In this way, PPG signals are realigned or partially realigned to provide an overall PPG signal with improved signal to noise ratio.

Abstract: An intraluminal device for delivering laser light and pressure waves includes a flexible elongate member positionable within a body lumen. The member includes an outer sheath; a laser catheter attached within the sheath; a sealed lens assembly located at the sheath's distal end; and a fluid chamber within the sheath, distal of the laser catheter and proximal of the lens assembly. The outer sheath includes a sealed acoustic window radially outward from the fluid chamber. When the chamber is filled with a fluid, a laser beam emitted by the laser catheter causes the photoreactive fluid to generate a pressure wave. When the chamber is filled with the fluid, a second laser beam emitted by the laser catheter exits via the transparent fluid and the sealed lens assembly. The sealed acoustic window and sealed lens assembly prevent the fluid from entering the body lumen.

Abstract: The application relates to the problem of navigating a surgical instrument (at 301, 311) towards a region-of-interest (at 312) in endoscopic surgery when an image (300) provided by the endoscope is obscured at least partly by obscuring matter (at 303), wherein the obscuring matter is a leaking body fluid, debris or smoke caused by ablation. To address this problem, a computer-implemented method is proposed, wherein, upon detecting that the image from the endoscope is at least partly obscured, a second image is determined based on a sequence of historic images and based on the current position and orientation of the endoscope. Furthermore, a virtual image (310) is generated based on the determined second image.

Abstract: A tissue analysis system and method process images to derive a remote PPG perfusion map from PPG amplitude levels obtained from the images as well as a PPG delay map from PPG relative delays between the PPG signals for each image region (pixel) with respect to a reference signal. The images are segmented into one or more tissue regions based on the PPG delay map (or segmentation information identifying tissue regions derived from the PPG delay map are received as input). The different tissue regions have distinct PPG delay characteristics. A level of perfusion can then be determined separately for each tissue region. Thus PPG delay information is used to enable different tissue types to be identified.

Abstract: A PPG imaging system and method processes images to derive remote PPG signals. Images of a region of interest are received, and landmarks are identified in each of a set of the images. For pairs of images of the set, the landmarks between first and second images of the pair are paired, and the second image is deformed to match the landmarks in that second image with the landmarks in the first image thereby providing motion compensation. A remote PPG signal is obtained from a set of the motion-compensated images.

Abstract: A system includes a controller, a light source and a camera. The controller includes a memory that stores instructions and a processor that executes the instructions. The light source emits emission light towards tissue at six or more predetermined central wavelengths. The camera detects reflected light reflected from the tissue based on the emission light. When executed by the processor, the instructions cause the system to measure tissue perfusion based on the reflected light, and measure tissue oxygenation based on the reflected light.
