Through a direct exchange of vacuum between an expression kit (2) and the volume element (54), support of the functioning of the pump element (51) is realized.

Abstract: There is provided an apparatus (12) for use with a wearable cuff (14) in determining blood pressure and/or pulse rate. The wearable cuff (14) is inflatable to pressurize a measurement site of a subject (18). The apparatus (12) is configured to acquire a pressure signal indicative of pressure in the wearable cuff (14) during inflation of the wearable cuff (14) to pressurize the measurement site of the subject (18) and analyze the acquired pressure signal to detect an artifact corresponding to a decrease in pressure during inflation of the wearable cuff (14) due to cuff slippage. The apparatus (12) is also configured to determine the blood pressure and/or pulse rate of the subject (18) by analyzing oscillations in the acquired pressure signal, wherein determining comprises compensating for the detected artifact.
