An image forming apparatus that executes information sharing among a plurality of image forming apparatuses includes a communication circuit, a set value management circuit, a storage circuit, and a distribution hold list management circuit. The communication circuit ensures communication with another image forming apparatus of the plurality of the image forming apparatuses. The set value management circuit distributes, based on a master authority as an authority for distributing a changed set value to the other image forming apparatus, the changed set value to the other image forming apparatus. The storage circuit, when the distribution fails, stores a distribution hold list that includes a combination of: an identifier of another image forming apparatus where the distribution has failed, and an item name and value of a set value where the distribution has failed. The distribution hold list management circuit manages the stored distribution hold list.

An image forming apparatus includes: a display device that displays an operation screen with respect to a user; an input device that receives an input operation from the user; a storage device; a work amount log table management circuit that specifies, for each job, an operation type and required time of each of a series of user operations made before executing the job, and stores the operation type and the required time in the storage device as a work amount log; and a work amount calculation circuit that reads out the work amount log from the storage device, specifies, based on the operation type in the work amount log, operations that can be substituted by a workflow that uses an operation aid function registered in the storage device out of the series of user operations, and proposes the substitution of the specified operations by the workflow to the user.

A printing system includes an image forming apparatus, a management server, and a print data transmission apparatus, each of which are coupled one another via a network. The print transmission apparatus transmits print data to the management server in association with a user. The image forming apparatus, including apparatus-supported setting data, (i) causes the management server to authenticate the user, and (ii) prints the print data. The management server (i) manages the print data transmitted from the print data transmission apparatus, (ii) performs authentication of the user, and changes the print data associated with the user to supported print data corresponding to the apparatus-supported setting data, and (iii) transmits the supported print data to the image forming apparatus, if the authentication of the user is successful.

An image forming apparatus (multifunction peripheral) includes an input portion and a job execution portion. The input portion includes an operation portion configured to accept user's setting input and stop of a job, and a communication portion, so as to accept a content confirmation input of a job to be executed. When executing a job for which the content confirmation input is not accepted, the job execution portion executes the job at lower speed for a predetermined number of sheets from first than a job for which the content confirmation input is accepted, and executes the job at the same speed after the predetermined number of sheets as the job for which the content confirmation input is accepted.

An image forming apparatus has a printing section and a document reading section. The printing section prints on paper while transporting it. The document reading section includes a document transport portion which automatically transports, sheet by sheet, a document placed thereon. The document reading section generates image data by reading the document. The document reading section is operable in an ordinary reading mode in which it reads the document at a previously determined ordinary speed and in a quiet reading mode in which it reads the document at a quiet speed lower than the ordinary speed. The document reading section reads the document in the quiet reading mode when the printing section is not printing and in the ordinary reading mode when the printing section is printing.

An image forming system includes a user terminal, a plurality of image forming apparatuses, and a document management server. The document management server: randomly determines the image forming apparatus as the spool destination of the print job and notifies the user terminal of the image forming apparatus when the document management server receives the print job information from the user terminal for the first time; and notifies the user terminal of the previously used image forming apparatus as the spool destination of the print job when the document management server receives the print job information from the user terminal at or after the second time. The image forming apparatus that has accepted a login request from a user confirms the spool destination of the print job determined by the document management server, reads the print job from the spool destination, and executes a printing process.

The comparison unit determines whether or not the usage amount is equal to or larger than the threshold value. The box search unit acquires, based on the usage amount and threshold, box identification information on the box corresponding to the user identification within another image forming apparatus. The box migration unit migrates data on the box within the other image forming apparatus to the box corresponding to the user identification within the image forming apparatus.

An image forming system includes a plurality of image forming apparatuses and a group management server. The plurality of image forming apparatuses each include a document-box management unit. The document-box movement processing unit transmits a command to at least one of a first image forming apparatus assigned to a group before the movement and a second image forming apparatus assigned to a group after the movement, the command causing movement of a document box of the moved user from the first image forming apparatus to the second image forming apparatus. The document-box management unit in at least one of the first image forming apparatus and the second image forming apparatus accepts the command. The document-box management unit forwards the document box of the moved user from the first image forming apparatus to the second image forming apparatus.
