An electronic device includes a touch panel, an operation position detecting unit that detects an operation position, in a locked state, at which a touch operation has been made on the touch panel, an ear pinna determining unit that determines whether the touch operation has been made by a user's ear pinna, according to the detected operation position, and an ear pinna operation accepting unit that, if the touch operation is determined to have been made by the user's ear pinna, accepts an operation input made by the touch operation by the ear pinna.

An image forming apparatus includes: a job receiving unit that receives a job for executing printing; an image-quality-adjustment execution unit that executes a normal image-quality adjustment at an image-quality adjustment time and a prior image-quality adjustment before the image-quality adjustment time; an image-quality-setting receiving unit that receives an image-quality setting; a reply request unit that, within a specific state before the image-quality adjustment time since the job is received by the job receiving unit, requests a reply indicating whether to execute a prior image-quality adjustment if a specific condition for the reception of the image-quality setting is satisfied; and a printing execution unit that, if the reply indicates that the prior image-quality adjustment is to be executed, prints an image on a recording medium by executing the job after the image-quality-adjustment execution unit executes the prior image-quality adjustment.

An electronic device includes a plurality of blocks, a plurality of movable members, a plurality of operation detecting circuits, a plurality of state determining circuits, an electric power control circuit, and a control circuit. The movable members are located in the respective plurality of blocks and operated when the states of the plurality of block are changed. The control circuit that has an electric power mode: causing the electric power control circuit to supply the electric power to the plurality of operation detecting circuits and to cut off the supply of the electric power to the respective state determining circuits; and causing the electric power control circuit to supply the electric power to the state determining circuit corresponding to the movable member where the operation is detected in addition to the plurality of operation detecting circuits when an operation to the movable member is detected by the operation detecting circuit.

A relative position identification portion is included that identifies a relative position of a personal digital assistant with respect to an image forming apparatus. The relative position identification portion acquires the relative position of the image forming apparatus and the personal digital assistant, displays, on the display portion of the personal digital assistant, an image that shows the position and the direction of the image forming apparatus seen from a user who carries the personal digital assistant and an image of the position and the direction of an original document which is arranged in the reading portion of the image forming apparatus and which is seen from the user and thereafter transmits, to the image forming apparatus, setting information based on an input operation of the operator.

Provided is an image formation device with which expanded is easy and the development cost can be reduced. A device control platform manages hardware resource in an operating system. A standard application service interface unit provides an interface for utilizing a standard application function from outside of a standard application execution unit. A platform service interface unit provides an interface for utilizing hardware resource from the outside of the device control platform. A standard function service enables the use of the standard application functions corresponding to the standard application service interface unit. An expanded function service enables the use of the hardware resource corresponding to the platform service interface unit. An expanded application management unit manages and executes expanded applications capable of calling the standard function service and the expanded function service.

An image forming apparatus is provided which can insert a test-printed sheet on an arbitrary page into an intended page. The image forming apparatus includes a test print selection portion, an original document reading portion, a test print page specification portion, a test print portion, a sheet set member, a print instruction portion and a print portion, where from image data on the read original document, overall page information, information specifying the page on which the test print is performed and detection information indicating that the test print page is set in the sheet set member, based on the instruction from the print instruction portion, the print portion performs the print while inserting the test print page into the intended page.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming section, storage, an acquiring section, a first specifying section, a receiver, a second specifying section, and a notifying section. The storage stores therein a position of each of the processing apparatuses. The acquiring section acquires state information from each of the processing apparatuses. The state information indicates whether a corresponding one of the processing apparatuses is in a normal function state or a malfunction state. The first specifying section specifies, from among the processing apparatuses, a malfunctioning processing apparatus for which the malfunction state is indicated by the state information. The second specifying section specifies a relative position of the malfunctioning processing apparatus with respect to a mobile terminal device.
