    Abstract: An image reading device includes a contact plate, a frame, a carriage, and a flexible flat cable. The carriage includes a reading mechanism and a resin-made slider projectedly provided at both end portions of the reading mechanism in its extending direction, and reciprocally moves in a sub-scanning direction at a bottom surface side of the contact plate while the slider slides the bottom surface of the contact plate in the frame. The flexible flat cable is connected to an one side surface of the carriage so that a width direction thereof matches the main-scanning direction, is arranged so that a part continued from a portion where the flexible flat cable connects with the one side surface is curved in a U-shape to go around toward an underside of the carriage, and transmits an electric signal of the reading mechanism. The contact plate is applied with a fluorine coating.

    Abstract: A height adjusting structure includes a coupling member configured to couple a caster to a casing, and the coupling member has a fixing part to which the caster is fixed, an extended part extended upward from the fixing part and penetrating through a bottom wall of the casing, and a meshing part formed at a portion within the casing on the extended part and having a plurality of engaging portions aligned at a predetermined pitch in a vertical direction. The height adjusting structure further includes a restraining member meshing with the meshing part formed on the extended part to restrain the extended part so that the extended part is unable to move vertically.

    Abstract: A sheet feeder includes a roller, a reflector, a sensor, and a rotating speed detector. The reflector is integrally attached to the roller, the reflector including first reflecting surfaces and second reflecting surfaces arranged alternately along a circumference direction of the roller. The sensor includes a light emitter and a light receiver. The rotating speed detector is configured to detect a rotating speed of the roller based on a result of the detection by the sensor. Each of the first reflecting surfaces reflects the inspection light at a first reflection ratio, and provides a first reflection light path along which the inspection light is directed to the light receiver. Each of the second reflecting surfaces reflects the inspection light at a second reflection ratio smaller than the first reflection ratio, and provides a second reflection light path along which the inspection light is directed outside the light receiver.

    Abstract: An image reading apparatus includes a document sheet cover, a pressing portion, and a light irradiating portion. The document sheet cover is openable and closable with respect to a document sheet mounting surface. The pressing portion is provided in a recess formed in a counter surface of the document sheet cover that faces the document sheet mounting surface. The pressing portion is biased in a direction to project from the counter surface. When the document sheet cover is closed, the pressing portion contacts a document sheet placed on the document sheet mounting surface and is housed in the recess. The light irradiating portion is configured to irradiate light, toward the document sheet mounting surface, from a gap formed between a side wall of the recess and the pressing portion.

    Abstract: A sheet post-processing apparatus (1) includes a processing tray (5), a sheet discharge port (7), a conveyance rollers pair (4), lower and upper discharge rollers (81), (82) and a discharge tray (9). When the sheet having a folded portion is stacked on the processing tray (5) with the folded portion downward, a controller rotates the lower and upper discharge rollers (81), (82) to advance the folded portion to the sheet discharge port (7), stops the lower discharge roller (81) before the folded portion passes the sheet discharge port (7), rotates the conveyance rollers pair (4) and the upper discharge roller (82) so as to convey the rear half portion to the downstream side until the sheet passes the conveyance rollers pair (4) and to form a deflection on the sheet, rotates the lower and upper conveyance rollers (81), (82) and then to stack the sheet on the processing tray (5).

    Abstract: An image reading device includes a housing that is provided with a contact glass, a document cover, an illumination unit that is received in the housing, and a document size detection unit that performs a document size detection operation for detecting a size of a document by using light irradiated toward the document on the contact glass from the illumination unit when the document cover is switched to a closed state. The illumination unit includes a light guide body extending in a front and rear direction of the housing, a first light source that is disposed at a front side of the light guide body and emits incident light to the light guide body toward a rear side, and a second light source that is disposed at a rear side of the light guide body.
