摘要: A transfer unit includes, as transfer rollers, first and second rollers of which the second has an elastic layer larger in an axial direction than the first, first and second bearing members, a roller holder, first and second urging members, a switching cam, a driving mechanism, and a first pre-transfer guide. By rotating the roller holder, the first or second roller is arranged opposite an image carrier and, by rotating the switching cam, the first or second roller arranged opposite the image carrier is arranged selectively either at a reference position where the first or second roller is in pressed contact with the image carrier or at a released position where the first or second roller lies away from the image carrier. With the first or second roller arranged at the reference position, the first pre-transfer guide is arranged at a first guide position.

摘要: An image forming apparatus includes a roller pair, a paper dust collecting member, a scraping member, and a paper dust receiver. The paper dust collecting member can be drawn out from the apparatus main body and is disposed along an axis direction of the roller pair so as to collect paper dust adhered to one roller of the roller pair. The scraping member scrapes off paper dust adhered to the paper dust collecting member when the paper dust collecting member is moved in a draw-out direction. The paper dust receiver is disposed below the scraping member so as to receive the paper dust scraped off by the scraping member.

摘要: A fixing device includes a fixing member, a pressing member, a cover, and a separation member. The cover is movable between a closing position at which a conveyance path is formed and an opening position at which the conveyance path is exposed. The cover includes a recess. The separation member is movable between a contact position at which the separation member comes in contact with a face of the fixing member and a withdrawing position at which the separation member is separated from the fixing member. The separation member separates a medium from the face of the fixing member in a state in which the separation member is arranged at the contact position. A tip end part of the separation member enters an interior of the recess of the cover in a state in which the separation member is arranged at the withdrawing position.

摘要: A fixing device includes a heating belt, a pressing roller, a pressing member and a cap. The pressing member faces an inner circumferential face of the heating belt via a lubricant. The cap is rotating together with the heating belt. The cap has a disk part, a cylindrical part, a gear and a hole part. The cylindrical part has an inner circumferential face coming into contact with the outer circumferential face of the heating belt. The gear is formed integrally with an outer face of the disk part. The hole part penetrates from the inner circumferential face of the cylindrical part to a face between adjacently disposed teeth of the gear. The lubricant flowed from the inner circumferential face of the heating belt to the outer circumferential face of the heating belt flows to a tooth surface of the gear through the hole part.

摘要: An image forming apparatus includes an image forming portion, an image input portion, a transfer unit, a transfer voltage power supply, and a control portion. The transfer unit includes a transfer roller having a metal shaft and an elastic layer laid around an outer circumferential face of the metal shaft to form a transfer nip by keeping the elastic layer in pressed contact with an image carrying member, and transfers a toner image formed on the image carrying member to a recording medium as it passes through the transfer nip. The transfer unit includes, as the transfer roller, a first roller, and a second roller having a larger axial-size elastic layer compared to the first roller. The control portion arranges the first or second roller opposite the image carrying member according to width-direction sizes of the recording medium and image data fed to the image input portion.

摘要: An image forming apparatus has a cooler, an air passage switching member, a swing mechanism, a drive gear train, and a restricting mechanism. The air passage switching member is swingable and switches the path of cooling air produced by the cooler. The swing mechanism swings the air passage switching member. The drive gear train transmits a rotation driving force to the swing mechanism. The restricting mechanism restricts the swinging range of the swing mechanism. The swing mechanism has a first gear coupled to the drive gear train, and an actuator swingably coupled to the first gear with a predetermined load and coupled to the air passage switching member. By swinging the actuator together with the first gear while restricting the swinging range of the actuator with the restricting mechanism, the air passage switching member is switched between a first position and a second position.

摘要: A sheet guiding mechanism includes a pair of first rotators and a pair of second rotators provided in a conveying path for a sheet material, a first sheet guide portion, a second sheet guide portion, a shaft member, and a plurality of guide rollers. The first sheet guide portion and the second sheet guide portion form guide surfaces for the sheet material on both sides of the conveying path. Both end portions of the shaft member extending along a width direction are supported by the second sheet guide portion. The guide rollers are in contact with the sheet material conveyed in the conveying path, and rotate to follow the sheet material. The shaft member is bent by a pressure applied from the sheet material to the guide rollers when a tension is applied to the sheet material between the pair of first rotators and the pair of second rotators.
