摘要： An infrared communications adapter (10) is provided having a two part housing (22, 24) that snaps together to form a housing assembly (12) having an interior cavity (30). The interior cavity contains a circuit board (32) having communications circuitry and components thereon, including light emitting diodes (42, 44, 46) for indicating operating status of the unit and a photodiode array (34) for receiving and transmitting infrared signals. The adapter (10) includes a light pipe (50) having three light conducting channels (204, 206, 208) that conduct light from the three light emitting diodes (42, 44, 46) to viewing facets (190, 192, 194) on the light pipe that extend through openings in the housing (12). A lens (20) is arranged in a front end of the housing directly in front of the photodiode array (34). An articulated coupling 60 removably couples a stand (14) to the housing assembly (12) and permits aiming of the unit for receiving and transmitting the infrared signals. A cable (16) is terminated at one end to the circuitry on the circuit board (32) and at the other end to a connector (18) that is connected to an input/output data port of a computer or other equipment.

A pair of gaskets (100,102) are mounted to the housing and cover (20,22) and seated within grooves (104,106) thereof, with cable-engaging portions (132) extending outwardly of the grooves to be engaged by and compressed by the cable (12) during application of the connector to the cable, being compressed into the grooves (104,106), surrounding and sealing the sites where the contacts will penetrate the cable insulation during termination.

摘要： An electrical connector system for mounting to a substrate is disclosed. The electrical connector system may include a plurality of wafer assemblies defining a mating end and a mating end. Each wafer assembly may include a first overmolded array of electrical contacts, each electrical contact defining an electrical mating connector extending past an edge of the overmold of the first overmolded array of electrical contacts at the mating end of the wafer assembly; a first ground shield configured to be assembled with the first overmolded array of electrical contacts; and a second overmolded array of electrical contacts configured to be assembled with the first overmolded array of electrical contacts, each electrical contact defining an electrical mating connector extending past an edge of the overmold of the second overmolded array of electrical contacts at the mating end of the wafer assembly.

The electrical connector assembly includes a stationary arm on a first connector to which a moveable latch on a second connector is locked and unlocked. The first connector includes a release arm for lifting the moveable latch from the stationary arm. A driving member on the first connector drives the release arm from first to second positions, causing the release arm to lift the moveable latch. A first spring returns the release arm to the first position, while a second spring returns the moveable latch downward after it has been lifted. The release arm may be flexible, slidable, or rotatable between the first and second positions.
