摘要:
Apparatus for collecting webs of photographic paper issuing from a photographic copying machine has a magazine which is attachable to the copying machine and contains a wheel having a slotted periphery for introduction of the leader of a web by way of a channel defined by a guide which is pivotably mounted in the magazine. The channel extends radially of the wheel during introduction of the leader so that the latter can enter the interior of the wheel. The wheel is thereupon driven to convolute the web about it periphery and to automatically propel the guide to a position in which the channel is tangential to the wheel. The guide is then intercepted and held against pivotal movement in a direction to locate the channel radially of the wheel, and the guide has a roller which rests on the outermost convolution of the roll of paper which accumulates on the wheel. The intercepting device is a spring-biased lever which allows the guide to locate the channel radially of the wheel in response to attachment of the magazine to the copying machine.

A photographic copying machine wherein the leader of a fresh web of photographic paper is automatically threaded through a copying station and thereupon through one or more additional stations whereby the leader advances along an elongated path which is defined by stationary and pivotable guide members. Each pivotable guide member is movable by an electromagnet between an operative position in which it overlies at least a portion of an opening provided by the adjacent stationary guide member or members and an inoperative position in which the respective opening is exposed. Pivotable guide members are provided at a copying station where the web is exposed to printing light and at a feeding station where the web can form one or more loops in a suitable magazine when the respective pivotable guide member is moved to its inoperative position. One or more pivotable guide members can be yieldably retained in the respective operative positions by elastic or yieldably mounted locking bolts at least one of which can be disengaged from the respective pivotable guide member by an electromagnet or in response to the application of a predetermined force which acts against the respective pivotable guide members in a direction to move it to the inoperative position.

A photographic printer wherein a web of photographic paper is being withdrawn by advancing rolls stepwise from a supply reel and is fed toward a copying station where successive increments of the web are exposed to light during intervals of idleness of the advancing rolls. The copying station is followed by a loop former for the web, by two normally spaced-apart rollers which are located at the opposite sides of the path for the web, and by a motor-driven flangeless takeup reel. One of the rollers is coupled to a hysteresis brake and the other roller can be propelled toward the one roller by an electromagnet which is energized when the motor for the take-up reel is arrested whereby the rollers pinch the web with a force which prevents any slippage of the web. The motor is started and stopped when the size of the loop respectively reaches a preselected maximum and a preselected minimum value. If the inertia of the take-up reel is so high that the latter continues to rotate after stoppage of the motor and after the convolutions of the web are tightly packed thereon, the web rotates the rollers against the opposition of the brake which is adjustable to insure that the rollers begin to rotate before the web breaks. The brake brings about a controlled deceleration of the web and takeup reel to zero speed.

Apparatus for positioning exposed and developed photographic roll films in a copying machine has a base which is formed with an exposure window and supports a removable cover, an advancing roll for photographic films, a first set of claws which can enter the perforations of a section of a roll film when the section is inserted and moved lengthwise by hand, and a second set of claws which can be used to position manually inserted webs of different films film webs which are bonded to data-carrying strips. The cover thereby retracts or depresses the first set of claws so that they cannot interfere with automatic transport of roll films. The claws of the second set are held in retracted positions by a removable insert which carries the first set of claws and the advancing roll and which is replaceable by a second insert when the apparatus is to position manually inserted different films which are bonded to data carrying strips. The second insert has apertures through which the claws of the second set extend so that they can enter the perforations of such different films.

A copying machine admits a web of freshly exposed photographic paper directly into a cassette whose core engages and convolutes the web therearound. The progress of engagement between the leader of the web and the core is monitored by comparing the peripheral speed of the core with the peripheral speed of a rotor forming part of an advancing roll for the web and receiving torque from a variable-speed motor which also drives the core. The peripheral speed of the rotor increases when the leader of the web is adequately attached to the core, and this is detected by a circuit having first and second photoelectronic monitoring devices which respectively monitor the peripheral speeds of the rotor and the core. The signals which are generated by the monitoring devices are processed, and the processed signals are used to change the speed of the variable-speed motor, to deactivate a catcher mechanism which directs the leader of the web toward the core and assists in the establishment of adequate engagement between the leader and the core, to change the supply of energy to the motor as the diameter of convoluted web on the core increases, and/or to actuate an alarm device when the completion of attachment of the leader to the core is unduly delayed.
