The UE configures a state transition request message (e.g., a cell update message) (i) to request that an access network transition the UE from the dormant state to a target state (e.g., CELL_FACH or CELL_DCH) and to obtain a network-assigned serving cell-specific identifier (e.g., C-RNTI) for exchanging data between the UE and the serving cell in association with the communication session of the given type and (ii) to indicate the given type of the communication session. The UE transmits the state transition request message to the access network, and the access network determines the given type of the communication session based on the state transition request message.

An Internet Protocol (IP) unicast connection is established between the proxy client and the application server. The proxy client associates with at least one of the UEs over the local wireless network, and notifies the application server of the association. The application server sends, to the proxy client, traffic associated with a group communication session to the associated UE(s). The proxy client re-transmits the received traffic via IP multicast over the wireless network.

    摘要: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate communicating user plane data over common control resources by specifying a user equipment (UE) radio network temporary identifier (U-RNTI). In this regard, a Node B or radio network controller (RNC) receiving the user plane data can associate the data to the UE based on the U-RNTI. The user plane data can be transmitted in a control message with the associated U-RNTI, such as a CELL UPDATE message or another message having the U-RNTI specified in a media access control (MAC)-i header or other header in the message. The control message can also include parameters regarding the existence and specifications of the user plane data. The UE can thereby communicate the user plane data while in a universal terrestrial radio access network (UTRAN) registration area paging channel (URA_PCH) or other relatively inactive state despite not having received an enhanced radio network temporary identifier (E-RNTI).

The UE configures a data session activation request message to include an indication of an association with communication sessions of a given type (e.g., delay-sensitive communication sessions), and then transmits the data session activation request message to an access network. The access network determines to establish an aggressive paging cycle of a downlink channel for the UE based in part upon receiving a message (e.g., which can be different than the data session activation request message) that conveys the indication of the association to the access network. The access network sends at least one instruction for facilitating an allocation of the aggressive paging cycle to the UE, and the UE receives the at least one instructions and monitors the downlink channel accordingly.
