A method for forming a direct positive color image by subjecting an inner latent image type light-sensitive silver halide color photographic material for formation of a direct positive color image, having at least one light-sensitive emulsion layer containing inner latent image type silver halide grains which have not been previously fogged on the grain surfaces to color developing processing after image exposure, which comprises developing an inner latent image type light-sensitive silver halide color photographic material for formation of a direct positive color image wherein a silver halide emulsion in at least one light-sensitive emulsion layer consists substantially of a silver chlorobromide emulsion with the use of a color developing solution containing an N-hydroxyalkyl-substituted-p-phenylenediamine derivative at 30.degree. C. or higher for not longer than 150 seconds.In accordance with the present invention, there can be provided a rapid and stable method of processing an inner latent image type light-sensitive material for formation of direct positive image by use of a color developer containing the color developing agent of the present invention, which can maintain constantly adequate photographic performance over a long term without suffering from influence by the change in the bromide ion concentration even when processed when reduced supplemental amount and is also little in generation of developing fog.

The present invention provides a container for containing a photographic processing solution which comprises a housing member and a partion member, thereby the container is divided into two chambers of which the first chamber is prepared for containing the photogaphic processing solution and the second chamber is prepared for collecting the waste solution. One part of the housing member forming the first chamber comprises a oxygen shelter for restraining oxygen permiation therethrough into the first chamber below 20 ml/m.sup.2 /24 hrs. The second chamber has a solution-absorbing material therein for facilitating the collection of the waste solution.

A method of storing a liquid color developer and a liquid bleach-fixer in a container made of plastic material having an oxygen permeation coefficient of 0 to 50 m/(m.sup.2 atm day) at temperatures of 20.degree. C. and relative humidity of 60%.
