    摘要: An optical head includes a lens carrier movable at least radially of a magneto-optical disk in facing relation thereto. An object lens is mounted on the lens carrier to converge a laser beam for forming a laser spot on the disk. The object lens has an optical axis and includes a lens surface directed toward the disk. A patterned coil is formed on the lens surface at least in one layer and has a light-passing opening corresponding to the optical axis of the object lens. A light-pervious layer is formed on the lens surface for closing the light-passing opening of the coil.

    摘要: A thermally assisted magnetic recording method is implemented for a storage disk with a magnetic recording layer which includes recording areas and non-recording areas. In this method, a heating laser is moved relative to the disk in facing relation to the magnetic recording layer for locally heating the recording areas. As the laser spot transitions from a recording area to the subsequent non-recording area, the heating is stopped. In cooperation with the heating laser, a magnetic field applier locally magnetizes the recording areas of the magnetic recording layer for recording signals. As the magnetic field applier transitions from a recording area to the subsequent non-recording area, the application of the magnetic field is stopped after the heating by the heating laser is stopped.

    摘要: According to one embodiment, a magnetic disk apparatus includes a patterned disk, a slider, two read heads, a write head, and a drive circuit. The patterned disk has a magnetic recording surface on which bit patterns are arranged concentrically. The slider is located near the magnetic recording surface, and moves relatively to the magnetic recording surface. The read heads are arranged along a medium running direction at an end of the slider, and read magnetic data from the magnetic recording surface. The write head is located between the read heads, and records magnetic data to the bit patterns. The drive circuit drives the write head at a timing based on a period from when one of the read heads located upstream in the medium running direction reads magnetic data until the other located downstream reads the magnetic data at the same position on the magnetic recording surface.

    摘要: A thermally assisted magnetic recording method includes the following steps. The recording layer of a magnetic recording medium is irradiated with a laser beam to produce a locally heated region. This heated region is moved by causing the recording layer and the laser beam to move relative to each other. To record desired information, a recording magnetic field is applied to the heated region of the recording layer. The laser beam has a cross section elongated in the direction in which the heated region is moved.
