摘要： In a container, an ink exhausting detecting liquid permeable sponge and an ink permeable sponge are disposed with an isolation film therebetween. The ink exhaustion detecting liquid is oil based, and has a resistance value higher than that of ink, and a specific gravity smaller than that of ink. In usage, the isolation film is drawn out of the container, whereby the ink exhaustion detecting liquid permeable sponge is brought into contact with the ink permeable sponge.

摘要： In a non-printing state, a cap is moved toward an ink jet nozzle of a head, for sealing the same. Immediately before the cap comes into contact with the jet nozzle, a gear is rotated by a motor to drive a piston, for sucking air from the interior of the cap by a suction pump consisting of the piston and a cylinder. This sucking operation is continued until the cap comes into close contact with the jet nozzle, for sucking the ink from the head.

摘要： In a method of adjusting record displacement of a serial printer including a recording head which records a plurality of lines at a time in the main scanning direction, a first test pattern which is formed of a plurality of line patterns spaced apart by a prescribed distance is recorded in the main scanning direction, the record sheet is fed by a prescribed amount, and a second test pattern which is formed of prescribed recording patterns is recorded. Based on the positional relations between the first and second test patterns, the feeding amount of the record sheet is adjusted. Since the feeding amount of the record sheet is adjusted based on the positional relations between the first and second test patterns, record displacement in the feeding direction of the record sheet can be adjusted easily, and the cost increase of the serial printer can be suppressed.

Each individual head includes an individual head member having a main surface, a backside surface, a first side surface, and a plurality of second side surfaces. The first side surface includes a plurality of ink jet outlets aligned in a direction parallel to the main surface. Each individual head member includes a plurality of ink paths to supply ink to the plurality of ink jet outlets respectively. Each individual head includes a plurality of drive elements provided on the main surface corresponding to the plurality of ink paths respectively to generate pressure at the plurality of ink paths, and a plurality of electrodes provided corresponding to the plurality of drive elements to apply voltage individually to the plurality of drive elements. The plurality of electrodes have one ends connected to the plurality of drive elements, and the other ends arranged extending up to the neighborhood of any of the plurality of second side surfaces. The plurality of individual heads are stacked in a step-graded manner so that the other ends of the plurality of electrodes are exposed at the neighborhood of the second side surface.
