    Abstract: A tire mold according to the invention includes a plurality of tread sectors for forming a tread portion of a tire and two shell inserts for molding the sidewalls of a tire wherein the tread sectors and the shell inserts are castings formed from the same model. A method for manufacturing a mold in accordance with the invention includes the steps of providing a casting model having the tread and sidewall features of a tire, the casting model having parting zones between the tread and sidewall, casting an element from the model, the cast element accordingly having parting zones between the tread and sidewall portions, and separating the cast element into a plurality of tread sectors and opposing sidewall shells. An advantage of casting the molding parts, the tread sectors and sidewall shells from a single casting model is that deeper and more complex features can be formed in the sidewall shells, and the features extending from the tread onto the sidewall can be better aligned and better conformed in size, shape and appearance.

    Abstract: A soil-conditioning disc and variable disc assembly system is presented wherein each disc has a series of radially extending geometrically shaped protrusions with intermittent cutting edges and consolidation surfaces, all circumscribing a central hub portion. The disc can be used individually or in multiplicity in a variety of configurations as appropriate for the soil conditions and soil-conditioning task at hand. When the soil-conditioning disc is rolled across the soil surface, a series of consolidated perforations and/or geometric-shaped hollows and restricting channels (depending on the particular disc configuration utilized) are created in the soil. This soil-conditioning disc and assembly simultaneously cuts and incorporates organic material into the soil to increase soil oxygenation for improved soil health, to create depressional water storage, to enhance soil permeability, to reduce evaporation, and to improve surface water distribution by reducing runoff.

    Abstract: A protective device for a remote control unit includes a resilient, deformable foam panel provided with an arcuate curvature about a central axis, in channel-like fashion. A flexible, transparent elastic member is adapted to extend across the channel opening, with a remote control device disposed within the channel opening. Hook or loop fastener patches are secured to opposed edges of the transparent member and are engageable with like loop or hook fastener patches secured to the outer peripheral surface of the foam panel, so that the transparent member applies tension to the opposed sides of the channel opening and frictionally retains the remote control unit therein. The elasticity of the transparent member permits operation of the pushbuttons of the remote unit, while the foam material cushions the unit and prevents damage from casual impact or falling. Further hook and loop patches may be joined to the outer surface to secure the remote control unit to a table surface or a remote, childproof location.
