    摘要: A channel switching method in a broadcast recorder integrating a set-top box and a hard disk recorder. At the request of the user, channels tuned to by a secondary tuner are switched and other broadcast programs received therethrough are output, while a broadcast program being received through a primary tuner is recorded on a recording medium. If the channel recorded on the medium is identical to the channel to which the user has requested channel switching, a time shift operation is performed to reproduce the stored broadcast program while storing the broadcast program being received through the primary tuner. Accordingly, if the user desires to return to a channel providing a desired program when viewing programs of other channels, the user can easily resume viewing the desired program, without missing any part of the desired program, which has been received while the user views the programs of the other channels.

Portable device 10 includes a transceiver 20 for wireless communication with a main consumer device 100. Portable device 10 also includes a processor 40 for configuring portable device 10 and modular component 50 based on communications received wirelessly from main consumer device 100. Attachment points 30 are provided on portable device 10 for attaching one or more modular components 50. Depending on the desired functionality, the corresponding modular component 50 (e.g., cellular telephone, personal digital assistant, pager, etc.) may be attached to the portable device 10. The modular portable device can be configured to communicate wirelessly with other intelligent devices, such as Internet enabled appliances and entertainment devices. Further, the modular components 50 can be configured wirelessly to provide independent functionality when not attached to the portable device 10.

    摘要: This circuit provides a digital output indicating the presence or absence of the infrared (IR) carrier signal. The incoming IR signal is sampled by a clock at a frequency which is about 4 times the carrier frequency. The high and low samples are tabulated in two counters in a race. When 8 high or 16 low samples are counted, the envelope status flip flop is set or reset, respectively, and both counters are reset. The output of the envelope status flip flop represents the envelope of the IR carrier signal.

    摘要: At the feed side of each antenna element having transmitting conductor paths formed in continuous meandering shapes and having distributed constant impedances are electrically connected a variable tuning unit including a voltage variable reactance circuit and an impedance adjusting reactance element, thereby constituting an antenna circuit. A voltage variable capacitor is connected within the voltage variable reactance circuit.Antenna feed terminals are connected through a coaxial cable to input terminals of a remote-set radio receiver. A tuning control signal generated within the radio receiver is fed to a voltage variable capacitor within the voltage variable reactance circuit of the antenna circuit through the coaxial cable. The tuning control signal allows the antenna circuit to resonate with a particular frequency within a frequency band, the freqency being variable. The antenna element having the distributed constant inductance functions so as to have the best possible antenna radiation efficiency at resonant frequency signal by being in combination with the variable tuning unit and the antenna element is considerably reduced in size.At the resonant frequency signal, the characteristic impedance at the feed terminals of the antenna circuit becomes equal to that impedance at the receiving input terminals at the radio receiver connected to the antenna circuit, whereby an RF signal at the resonant frequency is selected and fed most efficiency to the radio receiver through the coaxial cable.
