    摘要: A head gimbal assembly for a disk drive includes a read head, a load beam, and a laminate flexure. The laminate flexure includes a structural layer, a dielectric layer, and a conductive layer that includes a plurality of electrical traces. The laminate flexure includes a tongue portion that connects to the read head, and a flexure tail that extends away from the tongue portion and includes a plurality of flexure bond pads that may facilitate ultrasonic or ACF bonding. Each of the plurality of flexure bond pads consists of a widened region of a corresponding one of the plurality of electrical traces in the conductive layer, and a gold coating upon the widened region. The widened region of each of the plurality of electrical traces extends transverse to the flexure tail's longitudinal axis at least 2.5 times more than it extends parallel to the flexure tail's longitudinal axis.

    摘要: A rotary microactuator includes a stationary structure formed on a substrate, a movable structure, and at least a pair of wires connected to the movable structure that conduct a signal associated with the movable structure. Each wire of the pair of wires has a first end that is connected in a cantilever manner to the substrate and a second end that is connected to the movable structure. The wires each have a serpentine shape between the first end and the second end, a predetermined spring stiffness, and a predetermined electrical characteristic. The microactuator also includes a magnetic head slider that is attached to the movable structure, and at least another pair of wires conducting a signal associated with a magnetic head of the slider. Each of the another pair of wires has a first end that is connected in a cantilever manner to the substrate and a second end that is connected to the movable structure. Like the first pair of wires, each of the another pair of wires has a serpentine shape between the first end and the second end of the wire. Electronic circuitry for conditioning the electrical signals associated with the magnetic head can be fabricated as part of the substrate and be connected to one of the pair of wires. The electronic circuitry can, for example, amplify electrical drive signals associated with the magnetic head, be a recording sensor preamplifier, and/or provide ESD protection for the electrical signals associated with the magnetic head.

    摘要: An integrated suspension for a slider in a magnetic storage system has a simplified structure that is relatively easy to manufacture. The novel integrated suspension may be assembled from separate pieces, including a load beam, a flexure and a mounting plate. The load beam provides rigid structural support of the flexure. The flexure includes a flexible member and leads integrally formed thereon. A section of the flexible member is fixedly attached to the load member, and another section having the slider mounted thereon presses against a pivot projection in the load beam for gimbal motions. An interlocking structure is provided to limit the extent of gimbal motions of the flexible member, comprising a tab extending from the flexible member into an aperture in the load beam. Alternatively, a tang is formed in the flexible member which is used to form a clip which serves to limit gimbal motions as it interacts with the load beam.

    摘要: An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for compensating for high-gain vibration modes resulting from asymmetrical traces in integrated lead suspensions in hard disk drives. A compensation member secures to an actuated arm opposite a mount plate securing a head gimbal assembly (HGA) to the arm. The compensation member includes an elastic portion primarily mirroring the elastic properties of asymmetrical elastic properties of conductive traces extending along the HGA and arm. The elastic portion secures to an inertial portion primarily mirroring inertial properties, such as center of mass and moment of inertia, of the HGA. The elastic portion may be formed as a strip of material attached at its end points to the inertial portion. The inertial portion may be formed as a flat plate secured to the actuated arm in a manner similar to the mount plate.

The flexure further includes an opposite end portion proximal to a tail of an actuator arm having swaged therewith a suspension. The flexure is interposed between the slider and the tail. The flexure also includes a flexure direction re-router. The flexure direction re-router has an inner radius and an outer radius. The outer radius of the flexure has greater rigidity than the inner radius. This greater rigidity provides resistance against the windage effects.
