摘要: A plasma display device is provided that can realize a stable progressive display using a plasma display panel that has a shared type arrangement form of display electrodes. A plasma display panel structure including display electrodes having a shape that has little variation of electrode area between cells and a driving sequence are combined in which the addressing step is divided into the first half and the second half. One of the first half addressing and the second half addressing is performed for a row on which the first display electrode is arranged that has an odd arrangement order when noting only the first display electrodes that are not used for row selection, and the other of the first half addressing and the second half addressing is performed for a row on which the first display electrode is arranged that has an even arrangement order.

A pattern in a plan view of a partition is made a mesh pattern in which vertical patterns are included at inter-row positions in each column. Each of first vertical walls is positioned at a boundary between columns, each of second vertical walls is arranged at a position away from a boundary between columns for each boundary between rows and each of horizontal walls is positioned at a boundary between rows. In the partition, a height of portions where the first vertical wall crosses the horizontal wall and a height of portions where the second vertical wall crosses the horizontal wall are smaller than a height of the other portions of the partition.

摘要: There are provided a plasma display panel and an imaging device which realize a high luminous efficiency, guaranteed long lifetime and stable driving. The plasma display panel uses a discharge-gas mixture containing at least Xe, Ne and He. A Xe proportion of the discharge-gas mixture is in a range of from 2% to 20%, a He proportion of the discharge-gas mixture is in a range of from 15% to 50%, the He proportion is greater than the Xe proportion, and a total pressure of the discharge-gas mixture is in a range of from 400 Torr to 550 Torr. A width of a voltage pulse to be applied to an address electrode is 2 &mgr;s or less.

摘要: A technology capable of stably maintaining the address discharge characteristics even in a long-term drive of a PDP is provided. A PDP has a structure where projecting portions are provided to a display electrode pair used for surface discharge so as to extend toward a reverse slit side in a cell region. Address discharge is performed between a scan electrode having the projecting portion and an address electrode. Since surface discharge in the display electrode pair and address discharge using the projecting portion are positionally separated from each other in this structure, address discharge characteristics are stabilized even if a protective layer is degraded due to the surface discharge.
