    摘要: A receiving device receives, using wireless communication, (i) a connect packet for establishing a communication connection (9,600 bps) and (ii) a data packet which contains transfer data and whose communication speed (for example, 4 Mbps) is higher than that of the connect packet. The receiving device includes: an error status judging section for judging, when a reception status satisfies a predetermined first reception failure pattern, that a reception of the connect packet has failed; and a cause-of-error output section for, when the reception failure of the connect packet has occurred, outputting cause information, indicating the cause of the reception failure, to a user interface. Therefore, even if an error has occurred in the data transfer, the user can easily recognize an appropriate solution for the receiving device.

This can make the communication time shorter than the conventional communication time in infrared communication.

The data stored in the digital content storage section includes protection information for indicating whether the data is under copyright protection or not. The transmission device includes a copyright protection detection section for detecting whether data, transmission of which has been instructed, is under copyright protection or not and a transmission disallowance notification section for transmitting, to the reception device, transmission disallowance data indicating that the data is incapable of being transmitted because of copyright protection when it is detected that the data is under copyright protection. Therefore, it is possible to provide a transmission device and a reception device which keeps a user from being confused when the user instructs to transmit data incapable of being copied.

    摘要: A host-side control section of a host-side controller, when having received a SOF packet transmitted from a host to a device, avoids transmission of the received SOF packet to a device side. A device-side control section of a device-side controller transmits a SOF packet to the device at a predetermined interval after connection between the host and the device has been established. This eliminates the need for SOF packet transmission between the controllers. Thus, a communication bandwidth between the controllers of low communication speeds can be used only for packets other than the SOF packet. This increases communication efficiency of these other packets.
