摘要： A stoma dilation device that includes a tubular support defining a continuous pathway through the device; at least one inflatable dilation balloon and at least one inflatable retention balloon located on the tubular support; and inflation lumens for each balloon. The inflatable dilation balloon forms at least a first portion of the device and the inflatable retention balloon forms at least a second portion of the device. The inflatable retention balloon is configured to have a diameter upon full, unrestrained inflation that is greater than the largest diameter of the inflatable dilation balloon upon inflation.

摘要： A needle assembly including a needle tip guard and needle is provided. The needle tip guard includes a proximal base defining an opening that is dimensioned for passage of the needle therethrough, first and second clamp members extending from the proximal base and defining an internal cavity, and a finger tab extending from the proximal base. Each of the first and second clamp members define an inner surface including a protrusion extending into the internal cavity. A distal end of each of the clamp members includes a clamp arm, the clamp arms being supported for movement between an open position and a closed position. The finger tab includes a contacting portion for engagement by a user.

摘要： A surgical instrument for administering fluids and having a vessel entry indicator to confirm proper placement of the surgical instrument within the vessel includes a vessel access member adapted for accessing a blood vessel and having insertion and trailing ends. The access member defines a primary lumen for administering fluids to the blood vessel and a secondary lumen. A pressure detector is in fluid communication with the secondary lumen. The pressure detector is adapted to detect pressure associated with a disposition of the insertion end of the access member in the blood vessel. The access member may define a port adjacent the leading end and in fluid communication with the secondary lumen. In one embodiment, the secondary lumen is independent of the primary lumen. The pressure detector may include a float valve responsive to pressure of blood entering from the blood vessel through the port and into the secondary lumen. In the alternative, the pressure detector includes a pressure gauge. The pressure gauge is adapted to register pressure associated with a presence of blood entering from the blood vessel through the port and into the secondary lumen.
