An image processing apparatus includes a display and one or a plurality of processors that executes the following processes: determining one of a plurality of screen switch groups as a search target, the plurality of screen switch groups each being composed of a plurality of multi-level screens, the multi-level screens to be displayed on the display; obtaining strings by searching the determined screen switch group, the strings each having a keyword specified by the user, the strings representing setting options to be set on the multi-level screens, the multi-level screens composing the determined screen switch group; and displaying the setting options on the display in a manner allowing the user to select one of the setting options, the setting options being represented by the obtained strings, and then displaying a screen for setting one of the setting options upon the one setting option being selected by the user.

A hardware processor included in an image processing apparatus establishes a communication path with remote operation devices, selects one of the established communication paths as a valid path, executes a process in accordance with a remote operation command received via the valid path, in response to establishment of new communication paths different from the valid path, sets the new communication paths as waiting paths to which sequence numbers are supplied in a chronological order of establishment of the communication paths, determines whether a same waiting path to which a remote operation device that is the same as a remote operation device connected to the valid path is connected is present, and in the case where the same waiting path is present, in response to disconnection of the valid path, selects the same waiting path as a valid path regardless of the sequence numbers supplied to the waiting paths.

An image forming apparatus includes a switching operation unit switching a display mode of a setting screen between first and second display modes. A first display screen in a first display mode includes an icon display area displaying icons arranged in a predetermined direction and corresponding to function buttons for setting each function, and a first function button display area displaying some of the function buttons corresponding to some of the icons specified by a range specification unit. The function buttons are classified into groups according to their function attribute. A second display screen in the second display mode includes a group display instruction area provided with group specification buttons for receiving input of a group display instruction to display function buttons belonging to a specific group among the groups, and a second function button display area displaying the function buttons belonging to the specific group among the function buttons.
