    Abstract: A shaving apparatus having at least one cutting unit with an external cutting member and a rotatable internal cutting member each the external and internal cutting members having cooperating cutting edges forming bearing surfaces of a first bearing, and a second bearing with bearing surfaces. To minimize the friction between the cutting edges, a support device having visco-elastic properties is provided between the two bearings. During operation, the distance between the bearing surfaces of the first bearing adjusts to the distance between the bearing surfaces of the second bearing. During cutting of hairs, the support device behaves as a stiff element whereas during periods in which no hairs are cut, the support device behaves relatively soft so that the cutting gaps between the cutting edges are closed.

    Abstract: A shaving appliance and a shaving unit are described. The shaving unit has a rotary cutter having a plurality of cutter blades that are provided with a cutting edge. The shaving track includes hair-entry slots that, seen in the direction of movement, have a frontal edge and a rear edge. A slot angle (α) defined as an angle of inclination between the frontal edges (48, 148) of the hair-entry slots. A shearing angle (δ), defined as a difference between the slot angle (α) and an angle of inclination (β) of cutting edges of cutter blades with respect to the radial direction. The shearing angle (δ) is defined at an actual point where the frontal edges and the cutting edges cooperate.

    Abstract: The present application relates to a device for cutting hair comprising a skin contacting face (3) that is placed against a surface of the skin (6) of a user during use. The device also has an optical system configured to direct a cutting laser beam (8) across a cutting zone (5) parallel to and spaced from said skin contacting face to cut hairs extending into the cutting zone. Also provided is a laser positioning mechanism which is arranged so that, during use of the device, the distance (H1) between said cutting laser beam and said skin contacting face is changed to maintain a predetermined distance between the cutting laser beam and the surface of the skin of a user.

    Abstract: A stationary blade for a blade set of a hair cutting appliance is arranged to be moved through hair in a moving direction to cut hair. The stationary blade includes: a first wall portion arranged to serve as a skin facing wall when in operation; a second wall portion at least partially offset from the first wall portion; and at least one toothed leading edge comprising a plurality of teeth and being jointly provided by the first wall portion and the second wall portion. The first wall portion and the second wall portion are connected at a frontal end of the at least one toothed leading edge to provide tips of the teeth. A blade set including the stationary blade and a moveable cutting blade are also arranged to cut hair. A method of fabricating a blade set is also described.
