    摘要: A soda-lime-silica based glass composition for manufacturing on a float line that has a faster refining rate due to the introduction of alkali earth oxides such as BaO, ZnO and/or SrO in the amount of from about 1-4% in total. These oxides replace part or all of the MgO in the base glass composition thereby decreasing the overall MgO content in the glass composition to about 2% or less. The glass can realize a lower viscosity at high temperatures so that refining of the melt may occur faster.

    摘要: A grey glass composition employing as its colorant portion at least iron (Fe2O3/FeO) and erbium oxide (e.g., Er2O3), and also preferably selenium and cobalt. An exemplary colorant portion for use in a glass composition (with a soda lime silica or other suitable base glass) includes, by weight percentage: Total iron (expressed as Fe2O3): 0.1 to 0.6% erbium oxide (e.g., Er2O3): 0.3 to 1.5% selenium (Se): 0.0002 to 0.0010% cobalt oxide (e.g., Co3O4): 0.0005 to 0.0018% titanium oxide (e.g., TiO2): 0.0 to 1.0% boron oxide (e.g., B2O3): 0.0 to 2.0% The resulting glass may exhibit high visible transmittance (Lta), while at the same time low UV and IR transmittance.

    摘要: A vacuum insulating glass (IG) unit and method of making the same. A plurality of fiber spacers (e.g. glass fibers) are provided between first and second opposing substrates in order to space the substrates from one another and maintain a low pressure space therebetween. The fiber spacers may be randomly distributed in a viewing area of the unit, or distributed in approximately uniform rows and/or columns in different embodiments of the invention. In certain embodiments, the fibers may be substantially transparent to certain wavelengths of visible light to render the IG unit more aesthetically pleasing.

The use of erbium and/or titanium has been found to improve coloration of the grey glass, and improve tunability of the same. In certain example embodiments, the ratio of cobalt oxide to nickel oxide is from 0.22 to 0.30 in order to achieve desired coloration in certain example embodiments.
