    摘要: A multiplex-driven liquid crystal X-Y matrix display in which the electrodes are divided into several blocks and a driving voltage is independently applied to each of the blocks. Each driving voltage has a magnitude that is different from the remaining drive voltages. The display panel is free from nonuniform or deteriorated contrast even if it has a large number of scanning electrodes. Besides, for a color display, the color balance is favorably adjusted, realizing a high quality picture image.

    摘要: In a liquid crystal display device having a simple matrix liquid crystal display panel including a plurality of scanning electrodes disposed in parallel with each other and a plurality of data electrodes disposed in parallel with each other so as to cross the scanning electrodes, the scanning electrodes are divided into a predetermined number of sub-groups, and each sub-group is successively driven by utilizing an orthogonal function. For a selection, a signal having an electric potential of .+-.Vr, which is a selection pulse string according to the orthogonal function, is applied to the respective scanning electrodes as a scanning electrode driving signal. For a non-selection, a signal having an electric potential of 0 is applied to the respective scanning electrodes as the scanning electrode driving signal. On the other hand, a data electrode driving signal having an electric potential proportional to a sum of products of a display pattern and the scanning electrode driving signal is applied to the respective data electrodes. A bias value "A", which is a proportional constant therefor, is set in a predetermined range. Thus, a uniform display with a high contrast enabling a fast response can be realized while suppressing a frame response phenomenon and display inconsistencies.

    摘要: A driving device for a display apparatus having excellent contrast and a high display quality without crosstalk and display irregularities, and a driving method for the same are provided. In the driving device, scanning signals and data signals having a plurality of periodical inactive portions in one frame are applied to respective display dots. In the inactive term, a fixed voltage is applied to each of the display dots. The signal applied to the display dot is divided into small terms by the inactive portions, resulting in more high frequency components in a voltage signal applied to the display dot. As a result, the frequency components of a driving signal applied to the display dot are averaged. Further, a complete orthogonal function having 2.sup.r base function series is used, and a desired display data is completely reproduced on the display apparatus by an arithmetic process assuming auxiliary data in accordance with the number of the scanning electrodes.

    摘要: According to a conventional backlight device for use in a thin full-color display device in which pixels are subjected to a color separation by colored lights, a large chromatic aberration occurs, thereby causing a deterioration in image quality. A thin backlight system in accordance with the present invention includes: a light emitting section (1) for emitting lights that have different dominant wavelengths; and a plurality of light transmitting parts (4) arranged in a predetermined manner, the thin backlight system deflecting the lights and then converging the lights on the plurality of light transmitting parts (4), said thin backlight system, further including: an imaging optical system (3) provided so as to face surfaces, of the plurality of light transmitting parts (4), on which the lights are to be converged, the imaging optical system (3) (i) having a plurality of identical lenses arranged in a vertical and/or a horizontal direction at a pitch found by multiplying a pitch at which the plurality of light transmitting parts (4) are arranged in a vertical and/or a horizontal direction by the number of types of the different dominant wavelengths and (ii) being configured so as to converge the lights from the light emitting section (1) on light transmitting parts (4) to which the different dominant wavelengths of the lights correspond; and an irradiating optical system (2) provided so as to face (a) the light emitting section (1) and (b) a surface, of the imaging optical system (3), through which the lights enter the imaging optical system (3), the irradiating optical system (2) being configured such that (I) the lights from the light emitting section (1), which lights have the different dominant wavelengths, are deflected by the irradiating optical system (2) by at least being reflected by the irradiating optical system (2) so as to be separate from each other, (II) the lights thus deflected leave the irradiating optical system (2) so as to travel in substantially parallel to a normal to each of the plurality of light transmitting parts (4) and (III) the lights enter the plurality of identical lenses of the imaging optical system (3) through a surface, of the imaging optical system (3), which is opposite to the plurality of light transmitting parts (4).
