    摘要: Disclosed are an optical sheet and a LCD apparatus having the same. The optical sheet receives a light emitted from a light guiding plate which is disposed under the optical sheet and emits the light substantially perpendicular to a liquid crystal panel. The optical sheet comprises a first prism pattern made of a material having a first refractive index and a second prism pattern made of a material having a second refractive index which is larger than the first refractive index. The viewing angle of the LCD apparatus having the optical sheet is extended and the brightness thereof is enhanced while a gray scale inversion is reduced.

    摘要: An object-sensing device is presented. The device includes a waveguide and a substrate holding a liquid crystal layer, wherein radiation propagates through the waveguide via total internal reflection. A radiation emitting element is positioned along a radiation input surface of the waveguide, and a radiation receiving element is positioned to receive radiation exiting the waveguide. The radiation receiving element may be positioned across the waveguide from the radiation emitting element. Alternatively, the radiation receiving element may be positioned on a surface that contacts the radiation input surface of the waveguide that is optically coupled to the radiation emitting element.

    摘要: The backlight for a flat display device including a light source, a light guide plate and a surface hologram is provided. The light guide plate is installed at one side of the light source, and light from the light source travels in the light guide plate while being totally reflected. The surface hologram is formed on at least one surface of the light guide plate. The surface hologram has a pattern of a predetermined grating interval and a predetermined grating depth in order to diffract light at a predetermined angle toward the light guide plate.
