The tag includes a tag memory to store thereto pre-determined password information and tag data, an antenna to receive a tag data transmission request signal from an outer reader, and a tag controller to request the reader to transmit the password if the tag data transmission request signal is received, and then to transmit the tag data if the password received from the reader is identical with the pre-determined password. Accordingly, it can be prevented for a third-party, who does not know the password, to check the tag data.

The RF Tx power setting method includes selecting an RF Tx power of an RF Tx power which is used to read tag information from an RF identification (RFID) tag; and setting the selected RF Tx power to a Tx power of the RF Tx signal. Accordingly, since it is possible to variably set the Tx power of the RF Tx signal used to read out the tag information from the RFID tag, the power consumption can be reduced at the RFID reader or the portable terminal equipped with the RFID reader.

When a read command for the RFID tag is input and the tag information is valid, the controller controls the RFID reader to retrieve the tag information of the memory. If the tag information is invalid, the controller controls the RFID reader to re-read the RFID tag. The controller can determine whether the tag information is valid using the time and location. Because unnecessary operation can be omitted to read tags, power consumption is reduced and tag information check time is shortened.

The sensor node calculates a transmission period in which the collected context information is transmitted, and randomly determines a transmission time at which the context information is transmitted within the calculated transmission period. Since the collected context information is transmitted at the transmission time randomly determined by the sensor node, the load on the AP can be balanced.
