The laundry treatment machine includes an inverter to convert direct current (DC) voltage into alternating current (AC) voltage and to output the AC voltage to a motor. The laundry treatment machine includes an inverter controller to control the inverter to supply current corresponding to a direction opposite to back electromotive force generated from the motor to the motor so as to align the motor during a starting operation of the motor. It is feasible to rapidly align a rotor of the motor during the starting operation of the motor.

A washing machine includes a water storage tank, a vibration sensor provided to the water storage tank, a washing tub rotatably disposed in the water storage tank and configured to accommodate laundry therein, a motor configured to rotate the washing tub, and a controller. The controller is configured to: measure an unbalance (UB) value based on rotating the washing tub during a dewatering stroke; control the motor to stop rotating the washing tub based on the UB value exceeding an allowable UB value included in a preset UB table; measure a dewatering time of the laundry and a vibration value during the dewatering stroke using the vibration sensor; and change the allowable UB value included in the preset UB table based on the dewatering time and the vibration value.

Disclosed are a washing machine and a control method thereof, capable of preventing occurrence of an accident related to a child or a pet being inside a washing tub. A washing machine according to an aspect of the present disclosure includes a concentration sensing part configured to a sense a concentration of a specific component in air measured inside or outside the washing tub, a controller configured to switch the door and the washing tub to a safe mode based on the concentration of the specific component sensed by the concentration sensing part, and a release signal detector configured to detect a release signal for switching the door and the washing tub, which have been switched to the safe mode by the controller, back to a normal mode.

The laundry processing device according to the present invention comprises: a first washing unit for doing laundry; and a second washing unit having a washing space independent from the first washing unit and provided with a tub of a smaller capacity than the first washing unit, wherein the first washing unit comprises: a first display unit; a first laundry amount detecting unit for measuring the amount of laundry in the first washing unit; and a first control unit for displaying, on the first display unit, a guide message recommending use of the second washing unit if the amount of laundry measured by the first laundry amount detecting unit is less than a first set value. When the amount of laundry is relatively small, the user is induced to use the second washing unit, thereby reducing power consumption.

The present disclosure relates to a washing machine and a method for controlling the same. The washing machine according to an embodiment of the present disclosure includes a washing tub to accommodate clothes and rotatably installed, a motor to rotate the washing tub, and a control unit to control the motor to rotate the washing tub, wherein the control unit measures a plurality of types of data previously set while the washing tub accelerates from a first rotation velocity to a second rotation velocity which is faster than the first rotation velocity, inputs the plurality of types of data into a pre-learned artificial neural network as an input value and calculates an expected UB pattern as a result value, and controls the motor so that the washing tub is rotated in a preset manner based on a type of the calculated UB pattern.
