    Abstract: A mobile robot system and a related control method sets a virtual wall as a specific area so that a mobile robot cannot approach within a cleaning area to restrict a traveling of the mobile robot, registers the virtual wall on a map when the virtual wall for restrict the approach of the mobile robot is set by a terminal, calculates a location of the virtual wall for the cleaning area to avoid the virtual wall, and restricts the approach of the mobile robot by matching the virtual wall to the cleaning area, controlling the mobile robot as if an actual physical obstacle exists by setting the virtual wall on the map through the terminal and matching to an actual cleaning area, and achieving an easy cleaning setting and effectively controlling the mobile robot as it can be plurally set at a desired location irrespective of the number.

    Abstract: A robot cleaner comprising: a cleaner body including a controller, the cleaner body having a dust container accommodation part formed therein; a wheel unit mounted in the cleaner body, the wheel unit of which driving is controlled by the controller; and a dust container detachably coupled to the dust container accommodation part, wherein a first opening and a second opening are disposed at the same height in an inner wall of the dust container accommodation part, wherein the dust container includes: an entrance and an exit, disposed side by side along the circumference of the dust container, the entrance and the exit, respectively communicating with the first opening and the second opening when the dust container is accommodated in the dust container accommodation part; and a flow separating part extending downwardly inclined along the inner circumference of the dust container, the flow separating part separating the flow of air introduced into the entrance from the flow of air discharged toward the exit to be respectively guided to lower and upper portions thereof.

    Abstract: A mobile robot of the present disclosure emits a first patterned light downward and forward from a main body on a floor of an area to be cleaned and a second patterned light upward and forward from the main body, determines an obstacle based on an image of each emitted patterned light which is incident on the obstacle, and senses a tilt of the main body to compensate for the tilt. In this manner, an obstacle may be determined accurately, and after the tilt compensation, redetermination is made as to whether it is possible to pass through, so as to enable the mobile robot to pass through or bypass the obstacle. Accordingly, the mobile robot may reach a wider area to be cleaned, thereby extending the area that may be cleaned, and enabling fast determination and operation for effective traveling, such that the mobile robot may escape from an obstacle without being limited thereby.

    Abstract: A robot cleaner includes a controller configured to sense an obstacle with a sensing unit of the robot cleaner, and control a driving unit of the robot cleaner to move a main body of the robot cleaner forward into a first contact state in which a front end of a cleaning unit cleans a first region while in contact with the obstacle. After the first contact state, the controller controls the driving unit to move the main body according to a predetermined connecting operation into a second contact state in which the front end of the cleaning unit cleans a second region while in contact with the obstacle, the first region and the second region being arranged along an outline of the obstacle.
