Abstract: Trenches are formed around the periphery of the area intended to be reinforced. Openings are then drilled from the surface, such openings being in rows, and selected rows being of different depths. By using freezer points the soil is then frozen solid. There is next formed a series of spaced channels extending through unfrozen soil from one trench to the opposite trench and after being excavated the channels are filled with hardenable material such as concrete. The sections which are adjacent to these hardenable sections may be then thawed and excavated and thereafter filled with hardenable material to form a complete mat the surface of which is adapted for sustaining soil loads and the weight of any structure thereon. The trenches are then filled with soil or hardenable material.

Abstract: COMBUSTION GASSES FROM FUEL-BURNING FURNACES ARE TREATED TO SEPARATE SOLID PARTICLES SUCH AS FLY ASH AND TO OXIDIZE THE SULFUR DIOXIDE GAS (SO2) CONTAINED THEREIN TO SULFUR TRIOXIDE (SO3). THE SO3 IS REACTED WITH EXCESS LIME (CAO) TO FORM CALCIUM SULFATE (CASO4). THE CASO4, UNSPENT LIME PARTICLES, SOME OF WHICH HAVE CRACKED OUTER SHELLS OF CASO4, AND COLLECTED FLY ASH ARE PACKAGED DRY AND USED IN APPROPRIATELY BLENDED FORM TOGETHER WITH CEMENT AND SAND, GRAVEL, OR ROCK TO FROM CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS, THE AVERAGE PERCENTAGE OF CASO4 THEREIN BEING REGULATED TO CONTROL THE SETTING TIME OF THE CEMENT. THE PROPORTION OF THE EXCESS LIME IS AUTOMATICALLY REGULATED BY PROCESS-CONTROL DEVICES WHICH CONTINUOUSLY MONITOR AND CONTROL THE REACTION APPLYING THE PARAMETERS OF FUEL COMPOSITIONS, AND SULFUR OXIDE LEVEL IN THE COMBUSTION GASSES.

Abstract: A solid pollution control product consists of a core material of lime, surrounded by a cracked shell of either calcium sulfate or calcium carbonate. The materials are referred to by coined terms as ''''Linfans'''' and ''''Linveins,'''' respectively. Both of these materials are particularly suitable for neutralizing acids in industrial wastes, removal of phosphates, and turbidity in wastewater by additions as a solid or in slurry form to wastewater. In one embodiment of the invention, the ''''Linveins,'''' I utilize the material as a water softening agent.
