Abstract:
N-3-OXOHYDROCARBON-SUBSTITUTED ARCYLAMIDES, ESPECIALLY DIACETONE ACRYLAMIDE, ARE PRODUCED IN IMPROVED YIELDS BY A METHOD INVOLVING THE REACTIO OF 3-OXOALCOHOLS SUCH AS DIACETONE ALCOHOL WITH AN ACRYLONITRILE IN THE PRESENCE OF SULFURIC ACID. ACCORDING TO THIS METHOD THE 3-OXOALCOHOL IS ADDED TO A MIXTURE OF THE NITRILE AND ACID, THE LATTER BEING OF AT LEAST 93% CONCENTRATION, AT A TEMPERATURE BELOW 30*C, AND THE MOLAR RATIO OF SULFURIC ACID TO NITRILE IS AT LEAST 1.8:1.
