Abstract: Embodiments of welding and cutting systems are disclosed. A welding or cutting system includes a power source to provide electrical power for a welding or cutting process. The system includes a torch having a cryptographic device, and is to be used with the power source during the process and communicate with the power source. The cryptographic device is configured to receive an encryption key seeded by the power source during first time power-on initialization of the welding power source or after the torch is replaced. The cryptographic device is configured to store an unlock code associated with the power source, generate an encrypted message, which includes the unlock code, based on the encryption key, and communicate the encrypted message to the power source. The power source is configured to cease further operation unless the power source determines the torch to be a genuine manufacturer torch based on the unlock code.

Abstract: A plasma arc torch includes a nozzle body, a nozzle extending from the nozzle body, and a shield cap. An outer retaining cap is attached to the plasma arc torch and secures the shield cap to the plasma arc torch. A sleeve is located radially outward from the outer retaining cap and is configured to receive a flow of pressurized gas. An insulator is located between the outer retaining cap and the sleeve. At least one of the sleeve and the insulator forms a gas flow channel configured to direct a gas flow from the sleeve to a distal portion of the outer retaining cap.

Abstract: An integrated plasma cutting system includes a plasma cutting power supply and a motion control device to move a torch along a desired cut path relative to a workpiece. The system also includes a torch height control device to adjust a gap between a tip of the torch and the workpiece and a gas control device to regulate a gas used in the integrated plasma cutting system. The system further includes a centralized controller that includes an integrated microprocessor architecture that controls a sequence of the plasma arc, controls the regulation of the gas used in the integrated plasma cutting system gases, and controls coordination of the movement of the torch along the cut path with adjusting the gap without aid of an intervening microprocessor architecture in any one of the plasma cutting power supply, the motion control device, the torch height control device and the gas control device.

Abstract: A gas tungsten arc welding torch includes a handle and a nozzle located distal of the handle and having a central bore. First and second tungsten electrodes are located partially within the central bore of the nozzle. The torch includes at least one filler wire channel that terminates radially inward of the first tungsten electrode and the second tungsten electrode. The torch includes a torch trigger. Operation of the torch trigger controls delivery of a first filler wire and a second filler wire through the at least one filler wire channel. The torch includes a wire feed speed control. Operation of the wire feed speed control adjusts a wire feed speed of both of the first filler wire and the second filler wire.
