Abstract:
A preselection counter having a switch-off counter which is adapted to actuate a desired function when a quantity of this function determined by a preset value has been reached includes presettable indicating means having number rollers adapted to have the preset value set therein and to retain this setting through repeated cycles of operation of the switch-off counter. The presettable indicating means enable continuous display of the preset value during operation of the counter with the preset value being transferred from the number rollers of the switch-off counter by a sensing wheel mechanism which is operatively interposed therebetween and which may be repeatedly reset to the preset value on the preset counter after each cycle of operation of the switch-off counter without requiring changes in the preset value in the presettable indicating means.
Abstract:
Apparatus for transmitting torque between the output shaft of the engine and the input shaft of the transmission in a motor vehicle has a fluid coupling with a housing secured to the output shaft and containing an impeller, a runner and, if necessary, a guide wheel. The runner is connected to a hub on the input shaft by a carrier for a torsionally elastic damper having coil springs which receive torque from the housing. The damper is in series with a clutch which can be operated to bypass the fluid coupling.
Abstract:
An apparatus for detachably fastening an equipment housing to a profile rail, preferably a top-hat rail mounted on a wall or bottom surface, includes guide strips. At least one clamp part slides on the guide strips and engages the profile rail in a clamping position like a tong. The at least one clamp part is retained in a clamping position by spring force operating in a given direction and is displaceable into an open position counter to the given direction for loosening. At least one locking part is displaceable relative to an equipment housing and is coupled to the at least one clamp part. The at least one locking part and the at least one clamp part occupy at least two positions defining a mutual spacing. The at least one locking part blocks the at least one clamp part in one of the positions for preventing the at least one clamp part from being displaced into the open position for loosening the equipment housing from the profile rail.
Abstract:
The invention is directed to a protective arrangement for a longitudinally extendible machine component such as a measuring arm of a machine such as a coordinate measuring apparatus. The protective arrangement includes a light barrier unit having a response sensitivity and including a light source for directing a light beam parallel to the axis of the machine component as well as first and second detectors for receiving first and second portions of the light beams and for supplying first and second signals indicative of the intensities of the portions of the light beam. The light source and the detectors are mounted on the machine component so that the length of the light beam between the source and the detectors and the respective light intensities received by the detectors change in correspondence to the distances as the machine component is extended or retracted. A structure shades the light beam in response to a contact engagement of the structure with an object or person. A comparator circuit compares the signal of the detectors and remains nonconductive so long as the light intensities uniformly increase or decrease with changes in the above-mentioned distances. The comparator circuit provides an output signal for bringing the machine component to standstill in response to uneven changes in the light intensities received by the detectors relative to each other when the beam becomes shaded. In this way, a control unit of the machine can, for example, initiate an emergency stoppage of the machine component thereby preventing injury to personnel or damage.
Abstract:
A hydrodynamic reversing transmission with discrete first and second hydrodynamic starting torque converters in the forward and reverse drive trains and an additional torque converter which is installed in the forward drive train and is actuatable to transmit torque in the intermediate or higher speed range of the respective drive train has a clutch which is rendered operative simultaneously with the second torque converter to enhance the braking action while the vehicle which utilizes the transmission moves in the preferred forward direction. The clutch performs a dual function, namely, to assist the second torque converter in braking the vehicle, such as a dump truck, while the vehicle moves in the preferred direction, as well as to drive the output shaft of the transmission in the higher or highest speed range of the forward drive train. When the clutch assists in braking of the vehicle, it transmits torque from the wheels of the vehicle (i.e., from the output shaft of the transmission) to the input side of the transmission. The clutch may be installed in a discrete housing which is separably connected to the transmission case.

Abstract:
In data processing devices for built-in control panels having a vertical front surface, the disposition of the operating panel is particularly ergonomically unsatisfactory when the operating panel is located substantially below the height of the head of the operator. The operating module therefore can be inserted into a front compartment disposed at the front surface of the device. A correspondingly constructed suspension configuration is provided in the front compartment for suspending the operating module in two different positions with respect to the front surface of the device. The invention can be used for facilitating operation of all data processing devices with a vertical front surface.
Abstract:
A system for mixing of wood chips or the like with glue which involves an intensive movement of the chips during the addition of the glue and a subsequent thorough mixing of the glue and the chips in a ring of material to be mixed, is characterized by steadily accelerating the chips out of an axial motion via a centrifugal and helical motion and by the addition of the glue during this acceleration, the acceleration to the velocity of the ring of material to be mixed taking place only following the addition of the liquid.
