摘要:
A crossflow cooling tower having fireproof liquid supply means including a riser opening directly into an overhead flume located inwardly of and adjacent to a hot water distributor for supplying hot liquid to be cooled to the latter. A liquid stilling chamber is provided between the riser and flume to prevent nonuniform, turbulent liquid delivery to the distributor. A horizontal conduit which is normally submerged in the hot liquid delivers liquid from the inlet flume to an outer section of the distributor to permit variation of the water delivery pattern to the fill assembly for temperature control purposes to deice the fill assembly during below freezing operation. Valve means actuated by a pneumatically expansible baffle variably restricts flow through the conduit, and the resilient nature of the baffle facilitates breakup of any ice which may tend to form thereon. A shiftable gate-controlled opening in the stilling chamber allows the operator to bypass the hot liquid around the fill assembly without cavitating the liquid power supply means.

A splash bar for a cooling tower fill assembly is formed from a synthetic resin sheet material and is of transversely M-shaped open base configuration. The sides of the bar are solid and vertically short relative to the horizontal distance between the sides spanned by the top, which is perforated and has a shallow, V-shaped, transverse configuration. Accordingly, the top presents a pair of inwardly sloping splash surfaces merging intermediate the sides to define a longitudinal channel along the top, three drip lines thus being provided at the channel and the two sides.
摘要:
A fireproof, hyperbolic, natural draft, cross flow water cooling tower having two story fill assembly structure between respective concrete hot water distribution and cold water basins within the tower shell and integral therewith adjacent the air inlet of the shell. Stainless steel fill and eliminator supports suspended from the distribution and basin units carry transversely threequarter wave asbestos cement board fill members and transversely full wave eliminator bars respectively cut from corrugated sheets. The fill members are disposed on edge with the longitudinal length thereof parallel to the airflow through each fill assembly structure while the eliminator bars lie in flat, generally horizontal disposition with the longitudinal axes thereof slightly tilted for drainage of the bars and located perpendicular to the path of travel of air through respective fill assembly structures.
