Abstract: A blowby gas return apparatus is provided that achieves inhibition of condensation of water vapor in blowby gas in branched return passages. A blowby gas return apparatus that returns blowby gas generated in an engine having a plurality of cylinders to an intake system of the engine includes a distribution portion inside a head cover of the engine, and distributes the blowby gas to intake paths of the cylinders. The distribution portion includes an introduction portion through which the blowby gas is introduced and a plurality of branch passages communicating with the introduction portion, plurality of branch passages branching from the introduction portion to communicate with the intake paths.

Abstract: A blow-by gas recirculating apparatus includes: an oil separator provided to a side surface of a cylinder block at one side of an engine; a communication part providing communication between a blow-by gas outlet port of the oil separator and an intake manifold; and a PCV valve. The PCV valve is provided to the intake manifold, and the communication part is connected to the PCV valve. The PCV valve provided to the intake manifold is positioned above the blow-by gas outlet port of the oil separator with the engine mounted on a vehicle.

Abstract: An oil supply path passes through members separate from a cylinder head (4) to supply a lubricant to bearings (73, 74) of camshaft journals. The oil supply path includes an oil supply passage (66) for the camshaft above the camshaft (19, 20), a connection passage (64) for the camshaft between the oil supply passage for the camshaft and an internal passage (61, 62) in the cylinder head (4), and branch oil passages (68) for the camshaft journals. Each branch oil passage branches off from the oil supply passage for the camshaft, and is connected to one of the bearings (73, 74) from above. Each of the branch passages includes a throttle (168) with a smaller cross-sectional flow area than the oil supply passage for the camshaft.

Abstract: A cam element portions is configured such that respective maximum lift portions (lift ending points) of both-side end-face cams thereof are provided at respective phases which are different from each other in a rotational direction and that a maximum value of a length, in an axial direction, between respective cam faces of the both-side end-face cams which are provided at the same phase is set to be a distance, in the axial direction, between a first operational member and a second operational member or smaller. Accordingly, in a valve gear of an engine in which cams operative to control opening/closing of a valve are switchable, it can be properly prevented that a camshaft locks and stop rotating because of an operational malfunction of an operational member or the like.

Abstract: A cam element portion comprises a slant portion (reverse-rotation return slope portion), which is positioned on a rotary-delay side from a maximum-lift portion (lift ending point) of an end-face cam and slants inward toward the rotary-delay side from an outer peripheral face of the end-face cam.
