Abstract: An electric fuse has a cup-like housing that is subdivided into two separate compartments by a partition; and each compartment has a fusible element therein which is embedded within arcextinguishing material. A portion of the partition projects beyond the cup-like housing to enter a slot in a fuseholder to automatically align the terminals of the electric fuse with the fuse-receiving terminals of the fuseholder. An indicating lamp is connected in parallel with one of the fusible elements, and a second indicating lamp is connected in parallel with the other fusible element; and the conductors which connect those indicating lamps to the load terminals of the fuseholder are spaced far enough apart to prevent ''''arc over'''' but are close enough to each other to capacitively couple those lamps together in the event a transitory fault causes both of those fusible elements to blow and both of those lamps to become illuminated.

Abstract: A fuse carrier has a circuit-closing member that can be moved by the switch-actuating plunger of a fuse which is held by clips on that fuse carrier. A stop on that fuse carrier lies in the path of a protuberance on one terminal of that fuse, and thereby maintains a minimum distance between that terminal and that circuit-closing member. That stop also coacts with an abutment, within an elongated recess in the fuseholder for that fuse carrier, to keep that fuse carrier from being inserted into that recess while it is in its inverted position. A surface adjacent one of the clips and an open area adjacent the other of the clips on the fuse carrier coact with the protuberance on the one terminal of the fuse to keep that fuse from being fully seated within those clips unless that fuse is correctly oriented relative to the circuit-closing member.

Abstract: A generally S-shaped connector defines a generally U-shaped recess for one end of a fusible element of a dual-element cartridge-type electric fuse, defines a second generally U-shaped recess in which one end of the helical extension spring of that electric fuse can be held, and is bonded to that end of that fusible element and to one end of the heat-absorbing member of that electric fuse by a mass of low-melting point alloy. That generally S-shaped connector is made from a single piece of metal to assure optimum electrical and thermal interchange between that fusible element, that connector and that heat-absorbing member.

Abstract: A mounting, for a front-mounted fuseholder, has a generallyannular body portion which permits the front portion of that front-mounted fuseholder to be telescoped rearwardly into it, and also has inwardly-extending lips that can be spread apart as that front portion is telescoped rearwardly into that generallyannular body portion but that subsequently move toward each other to hold that front portion within that generally-annular body portion. Thereafter, that mounting and that front-mounted fuseholder can be telescoped forwardly, from a point rearwardly of a panel, into position within an opening in that panel. That mounting has fingers that are bendable to permit that mounting to be moved forwardly into position within that opening but that subsequently prevent accidental movement of that mounting rearwardly of that panel.
