摘要: A lens system may include a lens having a first electrode electrode layer, a second electrode layer, and a liquid crystal layer disposed between the first electrode layer and the second electrode layer. The lens may be divided into a plurality of lens segments that are concentrically arranged proceeding from a center to a radially outer periphery of the lens. An optical power of a first lens segment of the plurality of lens segments may be greater than an optical power of a second lens segment of the plurality of lens segments disposed radially outward relative to the first lens segment. Various other devices, systems, and methods are also disclosed.

摘要: A system may include a first transparent conductive active dimming (AD) layer deposited on a first transparent substrate. The first transparent conductive AD layer may include a minimum threshold level of electrical conductivity. The system may also include a second, different transparent conductive AD layer deposited on a second transparent substrate. The second transparent conductive AD layer may include a level of electrical conductivity that is below the minimum threshold level and may meet at least a minimum set of optical performance characteristics. The system may further include an insulative layer positioned between the first transparent conductive layer and the second transparent conductive layer, as well as an antenna feed connected to at least the first transparent conductive AD layer. The system may also include a controller configured to control power to the first and second transparent conductive AD layers. Various other apparatuses and mobile electronic devices are also disclosed.

摘要: A display system includes a source of unpolarized image light, and a stack of polarization-selective optical elements operable to switchably convert the unpolarized image light into two orthogonally polarized light beams, each of which being switchable in at least one beam characteristic. An output polarizer selects one of the two orthogonally polarized light beams for providing to a user. A depolarizer may be disposed between an electronic display emitting polarized light and the stack. The depolarizer may be in the form of an LC bilayer with randomized in-plane optic axis.

摘要: A device includes a display including multiple pixels, each pixel having an optical emitter to provide at least one light beam from an image. The device also includes an optical element to relay light beams from the display to a viewer through an eyebox, the eyebox limiting an area that includes a pupil of the viewer and a varifocal assembly to direct, through the eyebox, light beams having a first and second mutually orthogonal polarization states, according to a desired mode of operation of the device, and associated with a first and second field of view of the image in a focused mode of operation of the device, and an immersive mode of operation of the device, respectively. A memory storing instructions and a processor to execute the instructions to cause the device to perform a method for adjusting between the immersive mode and the focused mode are also provided.

摘要: A holographic display includes an illuminator, a spatial light modulator (SLM) coupled to the illuminator, and an ocular lens coupled to the SLM. The illuminator provides a wide-area illuminating light beam to illuminate the SLM with a spatially homogeneous beam of light. The illuminator may include a slab waveguide with an evanescent out-coupler, or a beam expander based on a diffraction grating with an oblique angle of incidence and a near-normal angle of diffraction of the illuminating light. A low-pass spatial filter may be provided to filter out higher diffraction orders of the illuminating light diffracted on the SLM.

摘要: A holographic display includes an illuminator, a spatial light modulator (SLM) coupled to the illuminator, and an ocular lens coupled to the SLM. The SLM includes sequentially coupled first and second pixelated SLM panels for spatially modulating the illuminating light beam in amplitude and phase. At least one of the SLM panels may include a liquid crystal (LC) panel, such as an in-plane switching (IPS) panel. At least one of the SLM panels may include an array of piston-type micromirrors.
