Abstract: A device, such as a power tool, configured to receive a battery pack that is operable to determine a type of battery pack that is attached to the device. When the battery pack is connected to the device, the device is configured to determine an impedance of the battery pack. Based on the determined impedance of the battery pack, the device is capable of detecting the particular type of battery pack that has been attached. In some embodiments, the device is configured to be controlled based on the type of battery pack that has been detected by the device.

Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure provide a system and method of operating a power tool. The method includes measuring a battery current draw, sampling the battery current draw to generate a plurality of battery current samples, calculating an averaged current value by averaging the plurality of battery current samples, and comparing the averaged current value with a predetermined current value. The method also includes determining a number of motor revolutions, comparing the number of motor revolutions to a startup threshold, and determining a cycle is complete and stopping the motor when the number of motor revolutions exceeds the startup threshold and the averaged current value is greater than the predetermined current value.

Abstract: An expansion tool includes a housing and a collar rotatably coupled to the housing. The collar includes a plurality of slots. The expansion tool further includes a plurality of jaws, each jaw having a projection received in a corresponding one of the plurality of slots such that the jaws are coupled for co-rotation with the collar. The expansion tool also includes a mandrel movable relative to the housing between a retracted position and an extended position, the mandrel engageable with the jaws to expand the jaws in response to movement of the mandrel to the extended position, and a drive mechanism including a rotatable cam. Rotation of the cam moves the mandrel between the retracted position and the extended position. The expansion tool further includes a rotation mechanism configured to incrementally rotate the collar.

Abstract: A sewer cleaning machine includes a frame and a drum rotatably supported by the frame. The drum defines an opening. The sewer cleaning machine also includes a cable supported within the drum and is operable to enter and exit the drum through the opening. The cable includes a plurality of tags spaced along a length of the cable. The sewer cleaning machine further includes a reader module positioned adjacent the opening. The reader module is operable to identify each of the plurality of tags as the plurality of tags passes the reader module and communicate to a user a distance the cable is payed out of the drum based on the plurality of tags.

The controller is configured to receive a first signal from the first sensing circuit related to a first measurement of battery pack voltage, receive a second signal from the second sensing circuit related to the current from the battery pack, receive a third signal from the first sensing circuit related to a second measurement of battery pack voltage, and control the motor by adjusting motor control parameters based on the first measurement of battery pack voltage, the second measurement of battery pack voltage, and the current from the battery pack.

Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure provide a system and method of operating a motor control algorithm in a power tool to utilize dynamic field weakening. The method includes operating the motor according to dynamic field weakening, measuring sensor readings, and sampling the sensor readings. The method also includes calculating an averaged sensor reading value, comparing the averaged sensor reading value to a predetermined sensor value, and continuing to operate according to dynamic field weakening if the averaged sensor reading has not exceeded the predetermined sensor value. The method further includes changing the motor control algorithm to a static motor commutation sequence if the averaged sensor reading has exceeded the predetermined sensor value.
