摘要: A radar transmitter and receiver showing a single antenna system of the monopulse type tracks a small target having a relative motion with respect to a large target, both located on a common boresight. A differential ranging circuit measures the difference between the tracked small target and the tracked large target. Upon the differential range reaching a predetermined threshold, a command signal is generated and transmitted to the small target causing it to perform a function.

摘要: The shell includes RF detector circuitry, a pulse counter, and a firing circuit for a detonator which may be caused to explode during flight when it receives a predetermined number of radio pulses transmitted by ground command, or when, after receiving the predetermined number of pulses, the shell also receives a radio fire pulse by ground command. The fire pulse may be sent out by differential ranging system which continuously checks the distance to the shell and to the target and sends out the fire pulse when the distance is reduced to the predetermined one.

摘要: A tracking system which utilizes combined CW and pulse signals. During initial target acquisition modes the CW signal portion is used for rapid velocity or frequency acquisition. Upon target acquisition in the CW mode the receiver of the system automatically switches to angle track and continues range search until range acquisition is accomplished using the pulse signals portions. If the target is lost, the receiver automatically reverts back to the CW acquisition mode. This disclosure includes description of the system, several transmitters for generating the combined CW and pulse signals and a receiver. Also described are a unique modulation scheme for pulse modulating a CW signal, and a received energy comparison scheme.

摘要: In radio direction finders of the type in which the direction of propogation of a pulse reflected from a target is indicated, errors occur due to glint. The glint is due to the fact that all reflective parts of the target are not at the same distance from the direction finder whereby the several radio echoes reflected from the same target arrive at the direction finder at different times and are vectorially added in the direction finder, causing incorrect indication of the direction to the target by the direction finder. The various errors of direction, due to glint, measured by direction finders is averaged out by applying a variable range gate to the waves received by the direction finder, whereby angle reflection measurements from various parts of the target are averaged out to give a true indication of direction of the target.
