Abstract: Techniques for detecting and tracking a status of an object relevant to an incident are provided. A virtual partner associated with a first responder detects at least one object that is relevant to an incident to which the responder is responding. The virtual partner requests that a smart building controller track a status of the at least one object. It is determined that the at least one object is currently needed. An indication is received from the smart building controller when the at least one object is currently needed, indicating the status of the at least one object.

Abstract: Monitoring systems and methods for identifying an object of interest after the object of interest has undergone a change in appearance. One example provides an image sensor is configured to monitor a first area. A first electronic processor is configured to detect a first appearance of an object of interest within the first area, and determine a visual characteristic of the object of interest. The first electronic processor is configured to receive a first notification indicative of movement of the object of interest into a second area and an access input, and associate the visual characteristic of the object of interest with the access input. The first electronic processor is configured to detect a second appearance of the object of interest within the first area, and update the visual characteristic of the object of interest based on the second appearance of the object of interest.

Abstract: A device, system and method for controlling a communication device to provide notifications of successful documentation of events is provided. The device receives a type of a recognized event occurring at a location of an edge device. The device determines, based on the type of the recognized event, one or more multimedia data types for collection to document the recognized event. The device causes the edge device to collect multimedia data of the one or more multimedia data types. The device receives an indication that the multimedia data has been stored successfully. The device determines whether the multimedia data has successfully documented the recognized event. When the multimedia data has successfully documented the recognized event, the device controls the edge device to provide a notification of successful documentation of the recognized event.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for preventing access to an IoT device is provided herein. During operation an apparatus will inquire about current and/or past connections to an IoT device. A list of identities of current and/or past apparatuses that were connected to the IoT device will be provided, and a determination on whether or not to allow access to the IoT device will be based on the identities of current and/or past apparatuses that are accessing, or have accessed the IoT device.

Abstract: A process for tagging incident data captured by non-public-safety agency controlled cameras. In operation, an electronic computing device detects an occurrence of an incident and obtains an incident identifier associated with the incident. The electronic computing device determines that a non-public-safety agency controlled camera is available for capturing incident data corresponding to the incident. The electronic computing device then controls a public-safety agency controlled internet-of-things (IoT) infrastructure deployed at an incident location to emit a signal including one of an audible signal, visible signal, or a combination of audible and visible signals to enable the non-public-safety agency controlled camera to tag incident data using the emitted signal. The electronic computing device links a unique tag representing the emitted signal to the incident identifier. The electronic computing device then searches the incident data captured by the non-public-safety agency controlled camera using the unique tag representing the emitted signal.

Abstract: A process for responding to location-variable group electronic digital assistant requests includes monitoring audio communications transmitted between a plurality of communication devices (CDs) on a group communication channel (CC) and detecting an audio inquiry from a first CD of the plurality of CDs. A location of each CD is determined, including different first and second determined locations of the first and second CDs. The audio inquiry is processed and it is determined that a response will vary based on the different first and second locations. Two different first and second responses to the audio inquiry are generated as a function of the determined locations and are caused to be provide to respective ones of the first and second CDs via one of (i) two private call CCs, (ii) one individual private call CC and the group CC, and (iii) the group CC and a second group CC.

Abstract: A communication server and a method of operating for distributing an application to a plurality of portable communication devices in response to a public safety event. The communication server includes an electronic processor that determines an incident area that geographically surrounds a location of the public safety event, and determines a desired number and desired roles of personnel to respond to the public safety event. The electronic processor also determines whether portable communication devices are located within the incident area. The electronic processor then automatically transmits the application to portable communication devices located within the incident area and associated with the desired roles of personnel until the application is installed on a number of portable communication devices that equals the desired number of personnel for each role.

Abstract: A method and system for improving prediction of an incident affecting public safety is described. At a machine learning analytics system, the method includes obtaining a real-time video for a location of a public safety emergency call and predicting a public safety incident therefrom. At a learning processor, the method includes: receiving information related to the public safety emergency call; identifying a public safety incident type based thereon; receiving the prediction of the public safety incident; using a first public safety incident machine learning model based on the identified public safety incident type and comparing the public safety incident prediction with the information related to the public safety emergency call and identifying an incident prediction mismatch therefrom. The learning processor identifies an artifact in the real-time video that is a contributing factor for the incident prediction mismatch; and implements a model improvement action associated with the artifact.
