    摘要: The invention relates to a polymerization catalyst for alpha-olefins and a process for polymerizing alpha-olefins. The catalyst comprises a component having a transition metal compound supported on a carrier and an aluminoxane. The carrier may be pre-treated with an organometallic compound, a halogen-containing silicon compound or an aluminoxane. Alternatively, the above two catalyst components are subjected to preliminary polymerization of olefins. The catalyst of this invention enables the production of a spherical polymer having a good particle size distribution, an excellent bulk density and a narrow molecular weight distribution in a slurry polymerization method or a vapor-phase polymerization method, particulary the vapor-phase polymerization method. When applied to the copolymerization of at least two olefins, the catalyst has excellent polymerization activity such that an olefin copolymer having a narrow molecular weight distribution and a narrrow composition distribution is obtained.

    摘要: A liquid ethylene-alpha-olefin random copolymer, characterized in that(a) it has an ethylene unit content of 10 to 85 mole % and an alpha-olefin unit content of 15 to 90 mole %,(b) it has a low molecular weight,(c) it has a narrow molecular weight distribution,(d) the dispersion of the ethylene units and alpha-olefin units in the polymer chain is in the advanced state, and(e) the directions of bonding of the alpha-olefin units in the polymer chain are nearly the same.The copolymer is prepared by copolymerizing ethylene and an alpha-olefin having 3 to 20 carbon atoms in the presence of a catalyst comprising a compound of a transition metal of Group IVb of the periodic table and an aluminoxane. The copolymer is very useful as a synthetic lubricant oil.

    摘要: A prepolymerized solid catalyst for gaseous phase or slurry polymerization of alpha olefins is disclosed. The catalyst comprises a porous carrier having a particle size of 20 to 200 microns onto which has been deposited an aluminoxane and a transition metal compound having at least one cycloalkadienyl group, the transition metal being from group 4 of the Periodic Table. The transition metal is present in an amount of 0.003 to 3 mmol/gm of carrier, and the aluminum to transition metal atomic ratio is from 15 to 1000. This catalyst is then prepolymerized with 0.2 to 30 gm of an alpha olefin per gram of catalyst to form the final prepolymerized solid catalyst having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.2 to 20 dl/gm as measured in decalin at 135 deg C.
