Abstract:
A new cultivar of hybrid Arenaria, ‘Lemon Ice’, characterized by its flowers that are lemon yellow in color and open from bright yellow flower buds, and its dense, compact, and spreading plant habit.
Abstract:
A method of entry distribution includes receiving requests by a chaining backend from an original client, forwarding requests from the chaining backend to a one of a plurality of remote servers, and returning results from the one of the plurality of remote servers to the original client. The chaining backend is a type of database plug-in that acts as a multiplexer including a directory information tree that provides the hierarchy of the plurality of remote servers.
Abstract:
A suspension system includes a swing arm which pivots about a pivot axis. A hub assembly, hub gear box and input gear box are mounted to an independently pivoting swing arm. The pivot axis is located closer to the ground than a rotational axis defined by the hub assemblies and the input gear box. A coupling extends from the input gear box to receive an input driveline from a drive source such as vehicle engine. The coupling is located proximate the pivot axis to minimize relative movement during articulation of the swing arm. An axle housing extends between the input gear box and an opposite hub gear box to support a drive shaft and serves as a torsion bar.
Abstract:
A connecting component connecting two members, such as a suspension component and a vehicle component, dampens vibrations and produces springing forces. The connecting component is formed by a steel strip including a plurality of holes. A sealing strip is secured to the upper surface of the steel strip to contain fluid for damping, and springing strips are secured to the upper surface of the steel strip to provide for springing forces. The steel strip is rolled to form the connecting component, trapping the fluid between the sealing strips. As the connecting component is a linking element with several degrees of freedom, different springing and damping rates are possible at each degree of freedom.
Abstract:
A suspension assembly for a motor vehicle includes a wheel assembly attached to the frame of a motor vehicle for movement in response to uneven roadway surfaces. A first inductive coil attached to the frame is mounted along an axis, and a second inductive coil is mounted co-axially with the first inductive coil and for movement with the wheel assembly. The inductive coils are movable relative to one another along the axis. An electromagnetic force generated by the inductive coils provides spring and dampening forces for the motor vehicle. Further, variation in the inductance between the coils is measurement to determine the relative position between the coils in order to monitor motor vehicle ride height.
Abstract:
A self-propelled floor covering scraper machine including a frame having front and back ends, two independently controllable wheels, mounted on each side toward the back end of the frame, mechanisms for independently driving each wheel in either a forward or reverse direction, a control mechanism for steering the machine, engaging the driving mechanisms, and controlling the forward and reverse movement of each wheel, and a scraper blade mounted to the front end of the frame at an angle extending downward and forward. The adjustable scraper blade assembly includes a blade bracket, a generally flat scraper blade attachable to the blade bracket, and a shock absorber for the blade during use. The mechanism for controlling the steering and the forward and reverse movement of the vehicle uses a horizontal crossbar rotatably connected at each end to a support on the vehicle. The crossbar's axis of rotation is perpendicular to the forward motion of the vehicle. A generally T-shaped yoke having a cross portion is attached at its center to a straight portion. The other end of the straight portion is rotatably attached to the crossbar. The axis of rotation of the straight portion is perpendicular to the crossbar's axis of rotation. The mechanism uses two linkages connected to each end of the cross portion. The linkages are respectively connected at the other of their ends to the means for controlling the forward and reverse direction of the mechanisms for driving the right and left sides of the vehicle.
Abstract:
A modem for coupling a data terminal or other apparatus to a telephone line and deriving its operating power for both transmitting and receiving operation from the telephone line, and providing electrical isolation between the telephone line and the data terminal.
Abstract:
An oxygen sensor for a gas, coal, oil or wood fired kiln that is orders of magnitude cheaper than the current state of the art oxygen sensors. It uses a TiO2 tip sintered between and bridging a 1 mm spacing between a pair of 22 gauge Nichrome® series 90 round annealed resistance wires (0.64 mm diameter and having 0.648 Ohms/ft resistance). The Nichrome® 90 wires do not contact each other. One of the wires is a signal wire that resides down the center of an insulating sheath and the other wire is a ground wire that is wound around the outside of a high temperature ceramic insulating sleeve. The sensor needs no temperature compensation and exhibits an approximate 50,000 ohms of resistance change from a neutral (ambient) atmosphere and a fully reduced atmosphere.
