摘要: A foot/ankle implant and associated method. The foot/ankle implant comprises a composite structure having a ceramic component with a macroprosity and a polymer component filling the macroporosity. The composite structure forms an anatomically-shaped and load-bearing graft for implantation between two bone portions of the foot or ankle to correct associated deformities. The ceramic component is gradually resorbable after implantation, and the composite structure is gradually replaceable by tissue/bone ingrowth.

摘要: An implant for lengthening the lateral column of the foot is configured for engagement across the calcaneocuboid joint or across a space formed between two bone segments of the calcaneus bone. The implant includes a plate configured positioning on the bone segments and includes an array of screw holes at its opposite ends arranged for solid fixation to the corresponding bone using bone screws. The implant includes a wedge projecting from the bone engaging surface of the plate. The wedge has a width that is tapered toward the plantar aspect and toward the medial aspect of the foot.

摘要: A fixation device for reduction of bone segments of the metatarsus comprises a fixation plate that is sized and configured to generally conform to the shaft of the metatarsus between the head and base. The plate includes a head end that is wider than the base end, with curved side edges that gradually taper between the two ends and produce a necked-down portion between the two ends that narrower than either end. The profile of the plate is further reduced by curving the plate across its width and along the entire length of the plate and by forming the plate at a minimal thickness of about 0.9 mm. The plate is provided with a plurality of screw holes staggered across the length and width of the plate. In the preferred embodiment, two screw holes are provided at each end and a group of four screws are provided adjacent each of the side edges. The screws holes are staggered to avoid conflict of the screws within the bone regardless of how many screws are used to secure the plate to the bone.

摘要: The invention comprises a lateral ankle fusion plate, a jig for use with the fusion plate and a method for ankle fusion of the joints between the tibia, the talus, and the calcaneus. In addition, a separate fusion screw from posterior to anterior through the calcaneal tuberosity into the distal tibia is useful and can be placed using the targeting jig of the invention. The plate includes a C-shaped stirrup portion that wraps the bottom of the calcaneus and is provided with a screw hole for a T-T-C-fusion screw. A C-shaped targeting jig is provided that interfaces with the plate to allow for placement of the calcaneal screw and has an additional attachment for placement of the independent fusion screw so as to avoid impingement with the plate, and plate screws. The invention also relates to a method of surgery that incorporates the use of the plate, the jig and the tibial/talar/calcaneal fusion screw for an arthrodesis of the ankle joint.

摘要: A fixation plate for use in fusion of the metatarsal-phalangeal joint includes a distal portion configured to engage the metatarsus bone and a proximal portion configured to engage the phalanx bone. The distal portion is elongated with several screw defined therethrough along a longitudinal axis passing through the portion. The proximal portion includes a plurality of screw holes that are all offset relative to each other along axes parallel and perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. No more than one of the screw holes in the proximal portion is aligned with the longitudinal axis. The fixation plate is contoured to cup the bones of the MTP joint. The plate may include an intermediate portion that is bent at a pre-determined dorsi-flexion angle.

摘要: A fixation device for fixation and/or fusion of the bones and joints of the mid-foot includes a plate having a plurality of screw holes for attachment of the plate around the perimeter of the fusion site. In one embodiment, four screw holes are positioned at the corners of the plate and two screw holes are located at the opposite sides and mid-length of the plate. Preferably, four additional screw holes are defined at the interior of the plate to increase the number of points of attachment of the plate to the bones of the mid-foot or to increase the ability to stabilize multiple bone segments in the case of a difficult mid-foot fracture. The plate includes a plurality of cut-outs defined between or interior of the screw holes. The cut-outs are sized to accept additional bone fasteners to either enhance the attachment of the plate to the mid-foot bones or to provide access for a fastener to reduce a bone fragment beneath the plate. The plate is configured so that the screw holes and cut-outs are not positioned over a fusion location when the plate is attached to the mid-foot.
