摘要:
Form retentive absorbent pads are disclosed which comprise fluid absorbent material and at least one bendable element which can be deformed by the user and which will retain its shape during use. The preferred embodiments, the bendable element provides at least a degree of conformation in the critical central area of the pad, most preferably at least in the longitudinal (y axis) direction. Conformability created in this area allows the user of the pad to mold the pad to the body to maximize comfort and fluid absorption. Preferred embodiments include bendable elements which form winglets which are bent around the edges of the undergarment to hold the pad in place during use.

Absorbent products, such as sanitary napkins are provided which include pocket means disposed on an undergarment-facing side of a central absorbent element. The products further include tab means extending laterally from one of the longitudinally extending sides of the absorbent element for a distance greater than about a width of the absorbent element and sized to be partially inserted into the pocket means after being wrapped around the crotch area of the undergarment for aiding in securing the sanitary napkin to an undergarment.

Absorbent products, such as sanitary napkins, are Provided which include mechanical attachment means for securing the undergarment-facing side of these products to an undergarment for minimizing shifting during movements by a wearer. The mechanical attachment means includes male and female fastening elements which engage to capture a portion of the thickness of the undergarment and may include slide fasteners, snap fasteners and fasteners including apertured rings with protruding button male portions.

Absorbent products for absorbing body fluids which are worn in conjunction with an undergarment are disclosed. The absorbent product comprises an absorbent core having a body facing surface, a garment facing surface and longitudinal edges. The absorbent products of the present invention utilize semi-rigid clip means for retaining the absorbent product with respect to the undergarment. Most preferably, such clip means are disposed on the garment facing surface and approximately at each lateral edge of the absorbent core. Twisting and other undesirable movement of the pad is thus reduced by a portion of the undergarment being retained between the semi-rigid clip means and the garment facing surface. Numerous alternate embodiments of clip means which grip the garment edge, as well as those which extend transversely across the garment facing surface are disclosed.

Absorbent products having integral belt means for retaining the absorbent product in a position to absorb body fluids are disclosed. In a preferred embodiment, a napkin is provided wherein straps are cut from the material of the napkin. These straps are then tied around the body of the user when the napkin is applied. The straps are flexible enough to allow them easily to be tied to each other on the side. The straps may or may not be retained by the waistband of an undergarment. Alternatively, a second embodiment is provided wherein long flap-like straps extend longitudinally away from the transverse ends of the absorbent product. These straps are then engaged by the elastic waistband on an undergarment, to retain the napkin in place. Methods of manufacturing absorbent products are also disclosed.

Improved medical suturing devices, systems, and methods may hold a suture needle at a fixed location relative to a handle of the device, allowing the surgeon to grasp and manipulate the handle of the suturing device to insert the needle through tissues in a manner analogous to use of a standard needle gripper. Cycling the handle from a closed position to an open position and back to the closed position may alternate the device between gripping the needle with a first clamp (for example, along a proximal portion of the needle) to gripping the needle with a second clamp (for example, along a distal portion of the needle) and optionally back to gripping with the first clamp, with the needle often staying at a substantially fixed location relative to the suturing device body. Related single-clamp needle grasping devices can be bent plastically by a surgeon, and/or have bodies that are grasped by a hand while a portion of the hand actuates a handle.

A skin mounted device holder for holding generally medical devices such as fluid reservoirs. The skin mounted device holder includes a base member comprised of a resilient cloth material and having a VELCRO attached to its top surface and a water based adhesive material coated onto the bottom of its surface, a securing flap having a VELCRO for mating with the VELCRO of the base means, and a connector loop having an attachment for attaching medical devices. The connector loop loops around the securing strap and thus connects the medical devices to the base member.

Medical suturing devices, systems, and methods will be useful for endoscopic (with or without access ports) or other surgeries in which access is limited, including ear, nose, and throat procedures. Articulation motions may be transferred from a handle to needle grasping jaws using an axial movement of a shaft that has axial stiffness (such as being stiff in compression) and lateral flexibility or an axial movement of a cable. An extension body (within which the shaft or cable moves) between the handle and jaws can be pre-bent or custom bent by the user. Portions of the devices may be disposable, replaceable, and/or reusable. A spring adjacent the clamp may open the clamp or impose a gripping force.

Improved medical suturing devices, systems, and methods for maintaining a position and orientation of a suture needle at a fixed location relative to a suturing device. An exemplary device include a clamp having opposing grasping surfaces for grasping the needle at a first location, and a needle contacting surface for contacting the needle at a second location, the second location a distance axially away from the first location so as to inhibit unintended movement of the needle relative to the device, which may include rotation of the needle about the first location and rotation of the needle about its axis. In many embodiments, the device includes a first and second clamp and a mechanism for alternating grasping of the needle between the first and second clamp. The device may also be incorporated into a single-clamp needle grasping device.

Improved medical suturing devices, systems, and methods may hold a suture needle at a fixed location relative to a handle of the device, allowing a surgeon to grasp and manipulate the handle of the suturing device to insert the needle through tissues. The exemplary device includes two needle grasping clamps extending from an elongate distal portion for endoscopic surgeries, including ear, nose and throat procedures. The two clamps alternate holding the suture needle, as the surgeon sutures the tissues, each clamp having a proximal and distal gripping jaw for grasping the needle. Preferably, the gripping surfaces of the proximal and distal gripping jaws are substantially parallel to the needle's plane of curvature and exert a holding force on the needle substantially along an axis of the device.
