摘要: A combined toroid/shunt device for detecting residual current in an electrical installation comprising a plurality of conductors such as a live conductor (2) and a neutral conductor (3) is described. The device comprises a toroid means (1, 4) for detecting an AC residual current within a first range and a plurality of resistive shunts (6a) to (6d) for connection in respective ones of the plurality of conductors. A current detection means (5, 7, 13) responsive to current flowing in each of said shunts for detecting a DC residual current and/or an AC residual current within a second range is described. The first range of AC residual current is an AC residual current resulting from earth leakage or cross-leakage between conductors up to a saturation level at which the toroid or electronic means associated means therewith becomes saturated. The second range includes an AC residual current of said saturation level.

摘要: An apparatus for actively transferring a coil of hot metal within a coilbox in hot strip mill. The apparatus is located downstream of the initial coilbox uncoiling station and includes at least one singly pivoting coil cradle. Such a coil cradle has a first support roller with a fixed rotational axis, a swing-frame mounted to pivot about that axis, and a second support roller mounted to the swing-frame, able to pivot about the fixed rotational axis of the first support roller to permit the coil of hot metal to be passed from the coil cradle. In certain embodiments, the apparatus includes a plurality of such singly pivoting coil cradles. The apparatus may also include at least one dually pivoting coil cradle.

摘要: A flow sensor system includes a plurality of flow sensor chips, wherein each flow sensor chip among the plurality of flow sensor chips comprises a substrate, a heater element, a heater control circuit, and flow sensor component formed on the substrate, wherein the heater element is disposed separately from the heater control circuit on the substrate, wherein the heater control circuit is thermally isolated from the heater element and the flow sensor component. Additionally, an air gap can be formed between each sensor chip among the plurality of flow sensor chips, wherein the plurality of flow sensor chips comprises a flow sensor system in which each of the flow sensor chips are separated from one another by the air gap formed therebetween in order to reduce output distortion, response time, warm-up time, drift and noise associated with the plurality of flow sensor chips.

摘要: A thermal liquid flow sensor and method of forming same. The sensor has a substrate and one or more sensing elements, disposed on the substrate, for sensing a property of a liquid. The liquid flow sensor, which can be for example a microsensor having a microbrick® structure, has a hydrophilic layer which is disposed on the substrate and covers the sensing element(s). The hydrophilic layer is preferably formed from a spin on glass material, such as for example a silicate or phosphosilicate. A silicon nitride layer can be disposed on the sensing element(s) and interpose the substrate and the hydrophilic layer. The silicon nitride layer can be oxidized, for example, by means of plasma oxidation or oxygen ion implantation so to form the hydrophilic layer thereon. A variety of other hydrophilic compounds can be utilized to form the hydrophilic layer such as, gold, palladium and diamond like carbon.

摘要: An anchoring system for semisubmersible drill rigs is described which includes a wire rope-chain cable anchor line and in which system components co-operate to convey the junction of the wire rope and chain cable smoothly over a fairlead sheave. The connector joining the anchor line has a narrow end in which the rope is rigidly retained, a large end at which a chain end link is pivotally retained, and a radially symmetric, generally concave surface extending between the two connector ends. The outer surface of the connector is shaped to seat against the central hub of the fairlead sheave in a predetermined orientation in which a limited fixed bend angle is formed between the connector and the wire rope. The geometry of the connector naturally biases the connector to seat against the central hub of the fairlead sheave in the predeterminted orientation during hauling in of the anchor line. A collar fitted about the penultimate chain link displaces the large connector end from the sheave during paying out of the anchor line until the outer connector surface can be drawn by the wire rope into engagement with the sheave. Wire rope bending is accordingly minimized without significantly enlarging or altering the size of the fairlead sheave.
